On todays stream, Ed and Sandy gave a lucky winner (dunno who) an Xbox Horizons pass. Yay to them and all that but it got me thinking. Will we need to preorder it when it is available or will it simply come out at some point. I just want to know, so I can see if I want a Cobra mkIV. I mean I do, but if we can't preorder it like the pc group, will we get it? As that is how they got it.

You didn't need to "Pre-Order" to get the Cobra IV. You needed to own the original Season 1 Elite dangerous and season 2 horizons. I think people who own season 1 only can still get the Cobra IV if they upgrade to Horizons.
Wait you can own Horizons without owning the main game?..
I think you'll find that horizons comes with the s1 base game included, that's why PC owners of the base game gotta discount on horizons. Chances are we'll get something similar
When someone purchases horizons, if they don't already own the base game, they get it with the horizons purchase. ED is on sale again in the gold discount area. This is the 2nd time it has been there. It is a last attempt to make money on the base game. (if horizons does come out next month)

Buying Horizons does include the base game. What I mean is You had to have bought Season 1 on it's own and then bought season 2.

Sorry, but this isn't true anymore.
Currently on PC, Horizons is a season pass, if you don't have Elite Dangerous, it does nothing.
They do have the option of a deluxe edition, which includes Horizons and ED (for people that didn't already have ED, works out a bit cheaper than buying them seperately).
Note: It was originally sold as a full blown standalone product, but there was a bit of an outcry and then FD had a rethink and felt the season pass model was easier for people to understand, been like this for a while now.
