Quick question does anyone know if the base price you paid for the ship have any effect on the insurance? Ex. I just bought myself an FAS. now since i bought it at a station which gave me a 15% discount (just over 16 mil) does that mean my insurance will be cheaper or will it be the same as if i had paid full price? Food for thought that if it does make a difference then it would certainly be worth everyones time to do some homework on where to by you next ship.

Ya know, ive always wondered the same thing. After more than a year of playing this game i still have not tested this theory. I would love to get some insight into this from a real dev who's job is doing the number crunching! Numbers make my head hurt [wink]

On another note closely related to the OP's question is this; What is the total discount percentage at jameson memorial without power play influences? If my math is correct (which it usually isn't) it is abit lower than what you can get at Li Yong Rui. If this is correct, Why? It is much more diffecult to reach a combat, trade, exploration (in that order mind you) rank of elite than it is to simply make 20-25 jumps (depending on your current ship).

I believe it's been said(if you die) after the rebuy the ship's insurance will be full price after that, but as with many thing's don't quote me on it.

About re-buy, this is most certainly the case. The game just tracks whatever you spent and calculates your re-buy off of that. It is why we all have different re-buy totals.
As to the Founders World, it is supposed to be the best place to get everything, including discounts. Don't forget, (or if you didn't know) Li Yong-Rui is NOT supposed to give a 15% discount on ships.
Read his STATS Panel in Power Play if you don't believe me. 10% off High Tech Goods. All shipyards will stock: Cobra, DB, Asp and Python. Outfitting prices reduced by 15%.
Frontier said long ago that they would patch this, it was unintended. I'm guessing it was too hard to fix, because they've let it go this long. Now people would throw a fit if they fixed it...

Mahon has 10% off Cargo Racks. Patreus has 10% off weapons. These are just examples, but LYR makes every single (discount related) PP bonus for the other Powers...useless. Why has Frontier let it continue for so long? In fact...now I'm buzzed off Scotch and salty. Thread incoming! (Not that anyone cares. In this forum, the pages with the most comments/views are troll posts and what new guns do we get...)
