Elite Dangerous for ps4 question

I just want to ask if anyone knows when the xbox one exclussive deal runns out. FD has confirmed ED for the ps4. My friend really wants to play it but there is no date yet. These deals usually last from 3 months to a year. When was it released for the one?

Also when it is released, will there be crossplay with the ps4?

Was there an exclusive deal?

If so, it would probably a year..

In that case, they maybe announce the PS4 version coming E3.

Noone knows but FDev and they aint said.

Up to FDev & Sony, MS has said they're ready & willing.

And yes, this. According to Microsoft they are ready to make Crossplay reality between all platforms..

I don't think ED was ever an xbox exclusive? I'm sure FDev would like to see ED on PS4 - it's just the porting effort required getting the game to run on a non-windows platform

ED was on Xbox before Win10 update I thought..

Even if not it was exclusive, but mainly because they'd developed a game on the Cobra engine on X1 before so had prior experience for prting from PC I believe. That & NMS being PS4 exclusive. :p

Talking about NMS, having read a detailed preview of it, it seems to be as far removed from ED as a space game can be. It does sound really cool though.

And back on topic, I'm not convinced there was ever an exclusivity deal in place for ED. It was just easier to port it to one console given the dev resource it would need, and Xbox was chosen as they were more familiar with the platform.

Sorry to say but.. Typical Sony response..

You get all these people on the likes of IGN and Gamespot forums slagging off Microsoft (especially after the way the Xbox One was introduced) yet it's MS who are are doing a far better job of supporting their platform and gaming in general if you ask me. You look at the likes of backwards compatibility and them effectively giving the green light to cross-platform play, and I think they're doing a stellar job.

Off topic but they're doing this because they're in a tight spot right now, having lost the initial image war and getting pounded sales-wise (even if the X1 is doing well in absolute terms). Not that I'm complaining, the platform is improving at steady pace and we're getting nice perks out of that war. Still, MS is showing goodwill because that's pretty much they only weapon they can use right now. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sorry for the rambling, I just hate this rampant "this company is good this other one is evil" which is way too prevalent in those kind of debates. Companies are amoral, dare I say "by definition".

Don't say that in public, lest you provoke a "Sony iz be da bezt" mob. :p

I don't believe in all the fanboyism you see on gaming forums, whether it be for Microsoft, Sony or the "PC master race"! I think people who act like that need to get out more. I'm just pointing out that a lot of the criticism people lob at MS as unfounded and unfair at this point in time.

I'm just happy to have something I can play my games on.

CROSS PLATFORM ACROSS ALL MACHINES!

That's what I want, including the upcoming Nintendo NX. :)
