Do the engineer modifications stack?

Lets say, does level 3 modification to FSD stack with level 2? or its always from the base values of the unmodded module?

Also, can you modify two different things for the same module like having faster FSD charge AND longer jump distance? or you can only have one?

Nope and nope. A mod replaces the previous mod on the same module. The only way you can have 2 effects to the same type of module is by having two of that modules. Like 2 lasers, for example.

Of course, a tier 3 mod will be better than tier 2 anyway.

Well yes and no, i managed to roll secondary effects on my lvl 4 dirty drives which made it better than anything i rolled on lvl 5.

But generally yes higher is better

I wasted most of my rare materials before realizing they do not stack.
Oh well. Should have googled first. Waited this long until actually trying the engineer stuff.

hah I wish! Then I'd slapped an efficient blueprint over an overcharge blueprint on top of a long range blueprint ON ALL MY WEAPONS :p

This is something that is often overlooked when deciding what upgrades to take. The drawbacks are much harsher on higher tier upgrades, so a good secondary roll can make a lower tier upgrade function better than one two levels higher. Lower their upgrades are also easier to get materials for, so you can make a lot of rolls for little effort.

For example, I happen to have a grade one low emission power plant that is lower mass than standard, puts out more power than standard, and runs cooler as well. I love that thing. ;)
