I finally reach Baron, bought my Clipper, and had all of five minutes before I sold it.

see here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=248568 - AI can#t lock on you out of auto-resolve distance, and therefor can't scan you or shoot at you with gimbals .... if you stay cold.

dev describes "eyeballing" of AI here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=236513&p=3645316&viewfull=1#post3645316 ... my impression from the beta is, that has been fixed, so it meets more or less players behaviour.
They also spoke of fixing chaff too! Sweeeet.

Speaking of landing pads, I'm quite sure an npc landed one on an outpost I was parked at in Torval space the other evening. If so, not only do npc' land where we cannot, they get the cobra iv ( allegedly ), and those nippy little fighters you find around some stations .

See, this is the thing with the Clipper. It can do everything the Python can, bar landing at outposts, for roughly half the initial cost of a Python.

It makes a damn fine assassination/interceptor ship thanks to its size, firepower, speed and ability to keep a target in its sights. It can also run station-to-station trade routes. What its not so hot at, as you have found out, is BB mission duties.

I've seen a few Cobra MK IVs out and about in my game. Damn A.I.... Never followin' the rules!

There are some military outposts with large pads... unfortunately, there's no way to check where they are on the map unless you go there and find out :)

never say never, but

isn't right, i think: https://eddb.io/images/stations/schema_military.png

military surface ports have large pads, military outpost don't, afaik.

Apologies for the misleading info if I'm wrong, but I'm certain I've come across an Anaconda parked at a military outpost a while back, some of them.. the ones that look like flying lawnmowers and have patrol ships flying around certainly look like they have large pads. I've never been in a large ship and landed at one though.

I've not come across one very often. Like I said, apologies if I'm mistaken.

Finally got my Clipper a few days ago (dat grind). This ship is awesome. Would it be able to land at every outpost, it would be utterly broken lol. It would be a slightly less versatile Python at almost a third of the price :O

Right now it feels balanced. The ship is awesome for the price but it has a huge downside: it's size.
