Ship's in 2.1

i just really think the clipper is going to see much more use after 2.1. however saying that the vulture wont have power issues any more so that could also come back in a big way
Seems like lots of people are talking about the Clipper's new role, especially given the new "retreat when shields down" tactic that npcs are using to a frustrating degree. I'm glad I've held on to my Clipper Miner. May have to dust her off and teach her some new tricks. Now if only there were a mod to shrink those nacelles so I could land the dang thing at an outpost...

Something like this. I like the organic look and how its more threatening/menacing in its posture. Can you imagine something like this coming around an asteroid and seeing it for the first time. Definitely a pucker moment.

I would also like to see odd shaped ships, you dont need to be streamlined in space. something where you have to turn sideways to get in and out of the slot would add to the planing of docking.

Would like to see a departure from the typical wedge shape fighter look.

The reason, my good man, that boats in Elite are symmetrical & streamlined, is because they need to be able to operate within atmosphere.

You would never see an odd design like her in ED though. ;)

None of the boats in Elite are aerodynamic. The symmetry is what really counts.

I can't see any reason why a Serenity design couldn't be in the game. Outside copyright, that is.

No ship's in elite have a..what to call it..."neck?" Thogh the Keelback did introduce rotating thrusters I hear. :)

Running a casually buffed Mk4.

60t Cargo and a boost of 380 fully laden with a 23ly jump. Will strip it for smuggling tomorrow, but suspect that as a smuggler I could get 80t and a 400 boost.
Oh, juicy. Can't wait to here your results. :D

I don't know... The DBX has quite a stretch between the nacelles & the cockpit. And its engines have limited rotation.

I guess it's simmilar true, but the serenity is much more unique and less practical. Fairly certain that long thin seection with slight vertical incline is a structural weakness and a half. :p

I think that alien design from Babylon 5 is indeed superb. It invokes our natural fear for things with too many legs and it is imposing and threatening.
I never liked the Serenity design though. I think that the way it holds up it's neck is just plain ridiculous.

Then the Babylon 5 Shadow Ship should fine too. Personally I'd love to see the Liberator from Blake's 7. (Less said about the Scorpio the better)

Oops acccidently posted this in the wrong thread.

Anything will fly with enough thrust, and control. Yeah the ship from firefly does look structurally week but its a cargo ship not a fighter. Technically all planes ffly under the same principal, however a 747 can't fly like a f-16. It has to fly slower because of weight and stress points. Pilots have to know the capabilities and the limitations of the craft.

Even with horizons we don't have to land planet side. So why not have ships that can't land or at least very difficult to land. Would be cool to launch smaller hauler like ships from the main cargo ship to transport cargo to the surface.
