My first real trip out of the bubble

greetings CMDR's

today im thinking of taking a trip out of the bubble to get my name on a system, i dont plan on going to far out just 1000 or so LY so wont take to long in my conda. any thing i should know about getting my name as the system founder?

wish me luck :D 07

Don't forget to bring:
Advanced discovery scanner
Detailed surface scanner
Fuel scoop

Check the system map and look for "First discovered by (player name)"
If a planet doesn't have "First discovered by" scan it.. Then return to sell exploration data to get your name on it!
Lots out there to discover, good luck!

Hi bud, yup when you get far enough away from the bubble allot of non doscovered systems will pop up all you have to do is make sure you take an advanced doscovery scanner and detailed surface scanner when you get to said systems load up the system map and if any planets/stars dont have a first discovered on any of them you are good to go, but also remember that they will not be a first discovery for you until you return to the bubble and hand the exploration data in. If you are goin further out them one would propose taking a AFU just incase. Hope that helps. Good luck out there cmdr.

i was thinking of heading to the witch head nebula, im going to monkey head when horizons gets here so for now i think witch head will do

Monkey Head's a long way. I doubt you'll find any unexplored systems until you get past Barnard's Loop, it's a popular route

Atleast you remembered to tell him to take a fuel scoop! Lol. Silly me. :)

Exactly what Bongo said, i went to ngc 1514 last night towards barnards loop and i didnt have much luck. Going up to top or bottom of galatic plain also helps.

hmmm ok well witch head was just going to be the rough destination so il make sure to move up and down on the plain, thanks guys :D

You don't need ARM's AFM's for exploration.

...unless you do. ;-) I suppose it doesn't matter about an Anaconda, as I assume it has a ridiculous amount of internals compared to the Cobra I first used to venture from the bubble. The only damage I did was, I think, in accidentally disabling the FSD whilst using it... I assume you've looked up build guides for exploration? If you're flying a 'Conda you most likely know your way around all broad builds. If you decide to retain shields or/and weapons, then deactivate them and all other non-essential modules as soon as you depart the last far flung outpost, as it helps conserve fuel and runs you cooler.

Try to prioritise scans, and learn to avoid bodies that simply don't reward the effort to detail surface scan - unless they just pique your aesthetic or astronomical interest. With no Horizons just yet (I'm not leaving the bubble till it's out), you won't be doing any landing, so it could get quite samey if monetary reward or activities are your main thang in the game.

A defined destination also helps - find a nebula or particularly esoteric star (a Wolf-Rayet, f'instance), and use that as an end-point for the journey. It's worth sorting main sequence star types by those that'll provide fuel for plotting (FOG KBAM/Oh Be A Fine Girl, Kiss Me), but either remember the lettering or regularly toggle the others back on, as they can be good pay days.

Oh, and there's no point in a spot of space tourism and sightseeing if you don't take fancy screenshots at the purtiest finds. ;-)

I tend to head for a nebula then after about 30mins go straight up or down to get away from well travelled routes.
Once I'm running out of stars i pick a totally different celestial object to travel to from a hopefully different angle.

Screenshot your first discoveries or at least write them down.

well i ended up taking a DBX not the conda as i had not been in one for a long time (plus i don't mind going pop in this) after a short time i came across the Halo....http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/rhyyysss/video/17506586

rather odd bug but it did go away after re opening the map

a few jumps later i came across this found it rather cool

and then we have one last screen shot for now. http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/rhyyysss/screenshot/4219625 and this is messier 78 with barnard's loop in the back ground. its rather odd its just a big cloud of gas and that's it there's no starts there at all XD looks cool anyways :D

il up date here when i have more to show :)
