Only got the vive today but I just cant get it to work in ED. When I go to options and 3D it doesnt give the the Headset option in the drop down. I have steamvr running. Does the game need to be run via Steam as I only have the standard installer version.

Is anyone running Horizons on the Vive with a GTX 970?
Aside from the render bug everything looks great and I have no issues with FPS. I was wondering if I could pull of horizons with my card?
Thanks!

Works great for me with a GTX 970 (Asus Stryx OC). I run with VR High and supersampling at 1.0x. If I switch to 1.5x the game got somewhat jittery and wasn't comfortable. At the time I was docked in a station which likely put a greater strain on things. I stayed with 1.0x. I have my 970 and CPU slighly overclocked and the SteamVR performance test rates the system around 8.3-8.5, if that means anything. Horizons performs great too. I've flow around planets and landed on surface ports. The one thing I have not done much of is spend time in the SRV in VR.
I got my first taste of VR nausea when driving around like a maniac in the SRV. It was fine until I started skidding all over the place, then I had to stop the SRV and allow my body/eyes to reset by looking down at my "body" and looking at the horizon. Absolutely no issues flying, but the SRV was a little dicey!
Well, sort of..... US only not shipping overseas.Looks like HTC are now taking orders for Vive spare parts [up]

Random note from today: Elite performs pretty well in VR on Ultra settings in the 2.1 Beta for me on the Vive. It's very rare to see frame skipping of any kind, especially in open space (say, at a conflict zone or just flying around). Compare to 2.0 which I can't even imagine looking anything but choppy with these settings, especially with every setting including terrain maxed.
I even went so far as to do some trench runs on a local moon to see how it would perform. Maybe a small hitch every 15 seconds. Not sure if 2.1 is just generally better optimized or what, but yea.
Anyone else in the Beta with a rig similar to mine, give it a try. I think the performance might surprise you. It still needs to be properly fixed by FDev 100%, but the Beta is far more playable for me than 2.0. If 2.1 launches as optimized as the current Beta build is, I'll be a pretty happy camper until they get in the official aliasing fixes. But understanding that having a rig like mine is the exception rather than the standard, I'll be here regularly pestering for the improvements we need so that I can go back to recommending friends by ED.
edit: I take that back. Currently performing just as well on 2.0. Maybe a SteamVR update helped smooth out reprojection performance? idk.
OK, may be a stupid question but... How do I launch ED (from ED Launcher) in "VR Mode"?
I've got a shiny new Vive sitting here, and can't get it working with ED.
