private mode

If people want to go into solo mode that's fine and up to them. BUT!!!!! It should not effect my game. BUT!!! It does. All power play, community goals, small faction and back ground simulation should be in open only. My pennies worth.

.... and players in Open affect the games of players in Solo (and Private Groups, and different platforms....).

Frontier designed the game so that every player, regardless of game mode or platform experiences and affects the single shared galaxy state, published that design over three and a half years ago, implemented that design over the course of early development, Alpha and Beta testing and then released the game nearly a year and a half ago. There have been calls to change the core features of the game (as they relate to player choice of play mode, the modes themselves and the shared galaxy state) for as long as some players realised that one or more of them conflicted with their preferred play-style - Frontier have stuck to their design in this regard.

How do you figure that? Anyone who breaks the rules would get a swift kick from the PG.

The issue is the player-cap of 1000.

If a Mobius-style group became really popular on Xbox, it would be an utter nightmare to manage.

I agree that open shouldn't effect anything In solo to.
The Xbox community is pretty small as it is. Once pg hits, it will be way smaller. Pc has a large player base so has not seen the problems Xbox will have once pg hits.

I hope you're not insinuating that Xbox shouldn't have PG...

Every Xbox player has as much right to the mode as any PC player like myself. I for one am glad Xbox players will be able to play easily with their friends in a few weeks time.

I don't get the point of private groups for xbox. Why not just meet up in open? Whatever. let people play how they want, but imo it seems like a waste. They could be working on dev something for the game instead of PGs

I still fail to see what impact PG's will have except for the pew pew crew looking for victims. All the rest of us will still be flying together and still playing the game irrelevent of which mode we play in.

If your game doesn't revolve around picking random Cmdrs as victims, you'll hardly notice.

The bold part is exactly what FD wants, hence they're bringing PG to Xbox.

Oh, and PG IS something for the game... Like how not everyone does PowerPlay, not everyone will use PG.

No I hear what you're saying. My point is more personal I guess. Why play an MMO if you just want to play in your own private group? Kind of defeats the purpose imo. I'm neither for or against PGs. Just feel the dev time could be spent elsewhere where it is much needed.

Elite was never actually going to be an MMO. Saying it is, is untrue. It was going to have an offline mode, but when FD decided not to implement this, because doing so would hurt the end-product, they made Solo instead. Solo doesn't exist because people are against PvP. It's because FD were always going to & wanted to provide a single-player experience.

Yes, but I believe each GT only gets one PG. I may be wrong, however.
Yes, so the group chooses a guy to host "Mobius 2." Not the most effecient way, but it's a way to make it work.

Three words: "Get" "over" "it." Boohoo PvE players can now have as much fun as "Open or death" players. I'd likd to think this is well known, but PvE players outnumber PvP players as a general rule(talking gaming not just ED). Plus what are they doing that you could actually stop in a reliable fashion? Nothing really, just due to instancing. THEN there's solo. Beside all that this is not a PvP game so noone should be forced to play the ONLY mode that has not only PvP, but no way to police griefers on top of that(PG can have PvP after all, and kick the griefers out).

Hopefully we will get horizons before anything else. dying to land on a planet, or should I say dying to die trying to land on a planet

Because elite has players like myself who love sending people to the rebuy screen, because you know..I'm playing elite how it's meant to be played by powerplay standards-

But hey I guess im a "griefer".

On topic let everyone play how they want, I don't care too much for the PG to be honest, I'll still be sending people to the Smackamus nebula for their sidewinders regardless..

Actually most powers have more trading leaning than combat, that(to me) makes the standard just as PvE as the other 95% of the game. Not gonna call you a griefer though, signing to a power does put a metaphorical bullseye on your back after all.

Small correction: all 3 modes (open/group/solo) where there from the beginning of the kickstarter, (offline) single player was added later and then removed before release.

I see. Thanks for the correction. :)

Still, the main point stands. Solo & PG were always going to be a thing.
