The really big challenge (in my view) of implementing the ability to walk around in a ship or on a station is: why? It's not that I don't want to. I'm *really* eager to take a stroll around my Fer-de-Lance, and around the space stations I visit. But there has to be a compelling in-game reason or me to do so.
We're so used to doing everything in seconds that the reality of getting out of our ships, walking around to ship dealers, ship repairmen, and seedy bars to sell crap on the black market would be so time consuming that none but the most dedicated RPers would do it after a time or two. And that would be a tragic waste of developer time and effort.
So- what then? What should walking around let us do that the station terminal doesn't (other than have gunfights)? And should being a pedestrian be something that everyone can do, or would we need to have that be a paid season?
So many questions surrounding this idea.
