Unsure buyer.

Elite dangerous is on sale so I'm thinking of buying it but I'm unsure if I'll like it I enjoy a strong narrative and sense of purpose in games and I know this does not have a campaign or single player I also am worried about being killed by other players a few dozen times before I have even gotten a grip on the controls like in day z this also seems similar to eve which I found rather boring so am I the wrong kind of person for this game ?

Buy it and say goodbye to all your other games...

Dont worry about getting slaughtered to start with, just run around for while in the starter sidewinder and then you shouldn't lose too many credits earned while learning the ropes.

Very helpful forum here so go for it!

Welcome Ownagepants
I suggest that you start playing solo. Then you don't have to worry about other players. You've gotta have a bit of an imagination and set goals for yourself. Once it clicks you'll be immersed in the galaxy in no time.

This is a big galaxy right so how long does it usually take you to get from station to station ?

On average, a few minutes.

ED has no campaign mode, no narrative. You set your own goals :) Initially this will be making more cash to upgrade/buy a new ship.

Also, you will need some patience to learn the ropes.

if you do end up buying it feel free to add me on XBL and il give you a hand making enough money to get you started :) GT rhyyysss

welcome to the family then. But be warned, your going to spend a lot of time just gawping at the amazing visuals....it's that good. I personally didn't find the learning curve that bad...I've only been playing for two weeks and can dock like I'm landing an F18 on a carrier now!

Message me if you'd like any assistance.

Been playing since release - still qawping!
Landings still a bit bumpy.

I did forget to ask is death permanent here ?
If you lose a ship you must have 5% of its cost available to buy it back. If you don't, and it's your only ship, you're back in a Sidewinder. Even if the lost ship is a 700 mill cr Imperial Cutter. The most important thing:

Don't fly what you can't rebuy.

Always have that 5%. Always. The rebuy cost is on the right hand panel of your ship.
