Also explain why :)
Voyager for me- Its the only Star Trek that actually had a goal in mind- to get home. Also there was some great character development, especially in the Doctor and 7 of 9

Apart from the original, the problem was, to my mind, the poor quality scripts. While some episodes started well, they rarely lived up to their promise. Most however were frankly, stereotyped, dull, repetitive and relied upon silly devices. Holodeck is a particular example.

The original is dated, but when first broadcast, was utterly superb,

The Next Generation was, as far as I was concerned, silly, insulting and predictable.

The problem with American drama, be it film or TV is it frequently assumes content is of lesser importance than effects.

Content is everything.

This I completely agree with- Star Trek, like Doctor who at the moment, suffered from bad scripts as you say. And then there are the episodes so bad that they are good, like that one where Janeway and Paris turn into Lizards (Literally the worst ST episode I have EVER seen)

In order, it's probably: TNG, Voyager, DS9, Original, Enterprise

It's a toss-up between DS9 and Voyager though for runner up. Voyager was great but some things, or characters should I say really irritated me. In order (with most irritating first), it's:

Neelix: Put him in a blender
Chakotay: Throw him out an airlock
Janeway: Demote her to deck-scrubber
Tuvoc: A boxing glove punches him in the face everytime he says any word with "logic" in it, including "logic"

And also, promote the doctor to captain and you'd have a great show.

Neelix: Put him in a blender
This. SOOOO much this

Watched all the TOS shows in & white, didnt know they had colored shirts until 1973.
Balance of Terror is my all time fav show.

Enterprise is next, T'Pol is the hottest alien ever.

Next Gen went to liberal for my liking. Ds9 & Voyager, I never got into.

I liked all of them but I also disliked much about all of them. While I liked most of the actors many of the stories were either boring or silly etc but there were some good ones. So I can't vote for a favorite because I liked bits of all of them. My favorite character would probably be Jadzia Dax and even Jadzia Dax 2 was rather pleasing to the eyes. Also it is hard not to like Q and Quark. Of all the souls I have encountered Quark's was probably the most human. Wait a minute maybe that was Spock?

I like them all (ALL OF THEM) my fave series was Voyager, i grew up on it watching taped videos. the reason i quote this fine fellow is to correct him, there is no Jadzia Dax 2, the Dax that came after Jadzia was Ezri. There, my Federation duty is done lol.

Real Trek - because without it none of the others would ever have existed. Also liked DS9 and against popular opinion Enterprise, which was just getting good when it was cancelled - I think it was the long story arcs, bit like B5. TNG and VOY were not "human" enough for me - not enough "We come in peace" - zapppppppp! :)

They did - there was an episode when he was merged with Tuvok - creating the Galaxy's first Talaxian & Vulcan hybrid - Tuvix.

For myself it's gotta be Voyager. Granted, Jennifer Lien was quite attractive in the days she played Kes, but what can I say about Seven of Nine - other than "Resistance is futile..."

Tuvix was one of my least enjoyed episodes (Voyager still my fave) but about 7 of 9.....well, you said it, resistance is indeed futile.

The best Star Trek story ever was "The Cage". It just went downhill from there. I liked Voyager and I enjoyed watching it, but it was nowhere near the ground-breaking stratospheric heights of the original series. It would've been better to have cut out the third series of the original show, and maybe the first movie. That way the show would have been remembered more fondly, and it wouldn't have been tainted by space hippies, and the sort of space Germans that sets off alarm bells and forum text filters.
