Can't manage my corvette mass

How could T9 be better when it has no defense what so ever and way less cargo?

you can max out a t9 for 2/3 CR of that corvette, run a class shields and scb - you can even slap armor on it. you'll end up having 100 T of cargo less, that is 100 k -250 k less CR per run, and nothing will be able to take you down before you highwake.

that trading corvette above can't "defend" itself neither - it can fire its turrets, till it highwakes out. the t9 does the same.

if you loose your corvette (372 mj shields ... no scb... less then my courier ...), you'll loose 10 mio CR in insurance. that is 40-100 times the profit, you make more in your corvette above a t9. so - loose it 1 time in 40-100 runs, and you would have been better off with a t9.

that is the way i think - and i'm a big fan of playing around with ships, outfits, and using "the wrong ship for the right job". a trading corvette sound nearby as cool as my trading cutter, but i would always take a t9 above such a build.

I'm NOT for a T9, so I can't support the suggestion. The Corvette can defend itself a hell of a lot better than that dead whale. I know because I've used one and the Corvette moves a hell of a lot better an does a lot more damage even if you only fit full pulse, not to mention it can escape a lot easier too.

did you see that corvette build  ... anyways, yeah, a well outfitted corvette would obviously be better.

Very interesting. Thank you much.
The vette I have can defend itself though. But anyway. Truly thanks.

Should I sell my parts in my current system then go to lhs 20 to build that trade build link above? That way I get the full cost for my parts then buy at the discount?

And adding a T9 is something I will probably do in the future. If like to have all ships built for specific jobs eventually. But I probably will wait to do this till ship delivery feature is added.

One thing I like to do is have just enough credits to buy a ship and upgrade a couple parts. Then have enough left for insurance. Then slowly build as I get credits. I like doing this very much in this manner.

if you are patient enough, why not. any li-yong-rui system will give you that discount (but lhs 20 is very central to sol). you'll only save 4-5 mio through that, though.

What do you mean? Should I buy the parts somewhere other then lhs 20?
Sorry me confused.

I'm in no trouble. Rarely get interdicted and if I do I take the npc out easy. Even when I had no shields.

patient = to fly to LHS 20 in a corvette. depends where you are at. (all li-yong-rui systems offer that discount). the most expensive part on your corvette build is your a class FSD, to get a discounted FSD you need to fly there with a class B, which gets your jumprange down again.

Then again, if you find the right slave route, it'd only be 3 trips to pay for the insurance loss. I know a few out there have 6,000cr secret trade routes. I've only got a publicly know 4,500cr one. Still, it's great though. Only 1 jump! 4 jumps is 10m at that route.

true. and all is gonna change on thursday, and jumprange will be much more of an issue. bad for t9s ... and bad fo trading corvettes.

Ahhh. Got it. Thank you.
Don't I already have the best FSD the vette can have?

I've tried this ship with pulse turret in all hard points and boy it's slow killing. But was easy enough. So I'll need to save for some better weapons for sure.

yes, you already have the best FSD. but you can only get a discounted one at LHS, if you sell it before. otherwise no discount - the station will let it rebuy ou for the original purchase price.

Ok thanks.
I bought all my current parts from lhs 20. I'm there now and going to look at the build given to me above and see.

OP I think we have done our very best to help you but I think the best advice we could possibly extend to you is that you are not ready to fly a Corvette, let alone insure her if you run into serious trouble. Therefore it is with great pleasure that I announce on behalf of the community here that we as a collect unit have designated a brand spanking new Sidewinder to present to you. If you would kindly share with us your current location and meet with us 20km outside your present station, we will happily present this new ship to you.

:)

its best to start in this order , power plant / distributer / shields / thrusters / FSD / D rated life support and sensors / then install weapons and whatever else you fancy and you should be good to go
turn off cargo hatch , this ship is a powerhouse , i'm surprised you're having trouble with it
You're referring just to the Corvette, correct? As in general, I don't see why a power plant should be prioritised.

A trading Corvette... now there's a thing. There's been good and consistent advice been offered here Buggs. I've watched way too many under shielded, under insured and underfitted Cutters and Corvettes go splat in these recent days of grind for the big ships mentality.

Best advice is to park it up and grind some more for the bits to make it work.

Not nice guys criticizing me how I play telling me what to do. That's the impression you all give me. Suggestions are good but some here I have taken offense to. They're harsh. Maybe the person was trying to be fun or easy or joking but still mean what they said. That's on me not you how I take it.
I came asking for info on why the mass was in my way and most everyone got on my case for this or that and not helping at all. Seriously think about it. Lots didn't have to be posted.
Some have been more friendly though.

I'm not trying to put anyone down. I'm not trying to be mean or start a fight or argument. I just want to point out the hostility I get from people.

I only needed to know about the mass. This could have been much easier and nicer more friendly. I asked about the mass. A good response would have been to let me know what it is and what affects it and info on the thrusters. That's it. End of thread. However sadly since posted stuff that I found insulting and not so friendly.

Take care all and truly thank all of you for your input. I learned and I truly thank you all for what I've learned.

Happened to me too, man. I got the Conda as soon as I could afford it and it was a blast improving it bit by bit. Got a lot of criticism for it. You like to live Elite: dangerously, others like to live Elite: safely. Safe travels, CMDR.
