You can avoid cargo limpits just by simply turning off your cargo scoop in the mods panel, you dont need power to it unless you do a lot of scooping (and it helps when those pesky pirates turn up with limpits too lol)

I normally switch mine off but did not know that it was a way of foiling hatch-breakers. Seems another reason to not bother pirating if it's true :-(

Anyway limpets defeated by a shut down hatch will only expedite death of said trader. Piracy wise it only affects the purse-snatch method. If you're going for the disable & cleanout approach instead then it just means pewing cargo hatch instead of using limpets once the ship's dead in the water.

*space is water, that's why ships have top speed and kinetic weapons have range dropoff
