No pre-order on Xbox.
It's just a case of buying it come June 3rd.
If having the money at hand is a concern, just get an Xbox money card & deposit it into your account before then.
But Horizons isn't going anywhere, and there are no "pre-order bonuses" on Xbox, when it comes to Elite.

FD hasn't said where we will have to purchase from.
It will most likely be available to purchase off the Xbox Marketplace, just like any DLC expansion is.
You can buy a 20£ gift card on Amazon.

Yup, DLC on XB cannot be preordered. You will have to order from XBox games marketplace. If you will be at work, leave your XB1 on, go online whe it releases, and purchase it. If you have your XB1 setup to do so, it will start automatically downloading and installing the purchase.
I will get mine for free since I use Bing as my search engine and have enough Bing Rewards for $50 of XBox credit...

I'll actually be away until the Saturday after it comes out. I may buy it via my mobile whilst I'm away, however I'm not convinced it'll install until I turn the game on. I don't know if this is the same for everyone, but even though I have my Xbox set to install updates in background when turned off, every time Elite has updated it hasn't updated automatically so I've had to wait for the update to download and install before I can play the game. Thankfully, I've got a quick internet connection so even a 6GB update only takes a few minutes, but still very annoying!
By the way, does anybody know the approx file size for Horizons?
Are we saying that on the evening of Thursday 2nd of June at midnight we can purchase / download / install Horizons ?

Updates don't automatically install if off. However, purchased 'SHOULD' download and install. We'll see!
Also, file size will be less than 8gb. That's all I think we've been told. 1.6 is 8gb, and they said it will be smaller than 1.6...

Really? You can't setup BING rewards on the phone?
