It finally happened

I happens whenever you drop out of supercruise from outside the orbit..if you place the planet behind you and come in inside the orbit, it SHOULDN'T ever happen. Watching the video, your lag time in SC is probably where you are having issues....it seems the drop takes way to long to occur. I would put in a support ticket, with a link to the video...and ask for them to replace your ship.

I haven't got a clue, but trust me I don't think you'd want this to happen to you. I almost had a heart attack
Hi chap, as Roybe has said you want to make your approach inside the stations orbit. I'll try and make a quick video which should explain it better.
Fly safe chaps[arrrr]

LOL, I have slammed into many surface settlements, but never a station. Hilarious..

Try this out, will help you get better alignments coming out of supercruise.

I have had some close calls but nothing like yours. Still your shields werent even affected. Great fun watching it!

Totally happened to me, twice. Scuffed up my 'Conda one time. My Asp barely survived.

As others have said, always approach from planetside and it'll never happen again.

That's never happened to me. Pretty much without exception I drop from SC around 8km from the station.

Weird.

I think it may be worth submitting a bug report about that.

Wow, I've very been close several times but never this.. If you come out of SC right behind a station you can end up very close as you say because it always puts you 8.5km from the mail slot and the station is about 8.5km long so in principal you can be right on top of it if you don't explicitly manage the angle you come of SC (which I never do). However, this is awesome :)

You think that's bad, I actually spawned inside that end of the station one time (and let me tell you now, there is no way to get back out). --Momentai :3
