Hi CMDRs,

I have the same concern about new players, I remember how long it took me to get a nice ship in the begining. I understand that the fact the NPCs have been lvled up is a good thing for players that already have bigger, and well armed ships, but new players will probably see this nice lvl up more as a wall they ll be hitting on. I found it long to be able at last to buy a nice ship and feel that new players will have to wait twice the time I had to wait myself. I fear a lot of new players will simply move away from Elite, finding that the progress curve is just too hard. I wouldn't like the galaxy to end up empty and only populated with large ships of the "first age" CMDRs..

progression for new players is now 10x as fast as it was in 1.0. New players or save resetters wont even see the scary AI much, if at all. New players will do fine, its the skilless grinders who are in trouble...

You're already immortal, right? Who cares if you get blown up by the AI. You'll be paying the ridiculously low rebuy insurance cost and back into the action in no time! Thirty rebuys later you'll finally rank to 'ELITE'. Congratulations!

Guess what? You might rank "Elite" on paper but that guy who just started playing and ranks to "Master" against the rebuffed AI just might be a better pilot then you. By a long shot.

If the AI improves and makes it a little harder for the galactic immortals to reach "Elite" while exploiting suicidewinders and experiencing multiple insurance rebuys then I'm all for it. Anything that makes reaching "Elite" a little harder is a good thing.

Yes ... I'm a bit bitter right now thanks to DBOBE shooting down Iron Man mode during the 2.1 release live stream.

Every carebear in this game right now :D

Well, hopefully you can stop calling people carebears now, because anyone who continues to play will be anything but a carebear.

Looks like solo mode is now the new hardcore mode, and Open/Group are now easy modes. Winging up is now going to be a lot more important.

Hey, Sandro, how about a bonus for Powerplay/CGs/etc in Solo mode?

Thx for the info, I really hope so my friend, our favorite game needs players ^^ a lot of players ^^

do you understand how pathetic does many of you sound? why don't you guys behave like adults? the most toxic community for sure...
i wish i could sell my account, i-m tired of this constant delusion with this game..not turning back, i dont even care about the rest of the season

enjoy your hardcore experience, i wish i was as masochistic as you

The only problem I would have would be if the AI had different rules. Like infinite heat, ammo, SCB, power etc.

Can't really have them running loadouts players can't. It's a combat simulation, not top trumps!

Dont worry, they dont. Been confirmed by SJA and verified in beta: you can outwait their chaff, cook them with heat etc. They want more than 5 scb recharges? They'll need two modules. Its fair.

If the game ever requires me to wing up in order to be effective, I'll be done with it.

I can understand that, some ppl just don't want to wing up, and some just can't cause they're in a part of the human sphere where no other players are flying through...

Thanks to developers!
AI is good, but, I know, It can fly better and not to be a suicide.
But without cheating and npc-buff please!!
Elite DANGEROUS command, you are on the right side of history and gameplay!
Thanks from all Russian community!

That is sad, but understandable. U re doing exactly what I feared. Don't missunderstand me, this is not a bad opinion on ur post, it's just u made my point.
A game needs players.

Taking other threads and my own experience into account, I can still say that AI feels a bit too hard for Dangerous+ NPCs. The fact that the game doesn't really have a dedicated "low-level" place (LowRES is the closest thing you can get) doesn't help, like its desire to spam interdictions by high-level NPCs.
'
What really should be done is not AI nerfing, but NPC spawn nerfing.
- Make Dangerous NPC rare, Deadly even more rare, and Elite super-rare. They should be seen as "legendary" enemies that CAN and WILL kill you if you don't have enough experience and gear to deal with them. They may worth a HUGE amount of money (how about 500K or even 1M bounty for an Elite Anaconda?), but you have to find them. They are perfect target for assassination missions.
- Absolutely NO high-level NPCs in combat zones. Or maybe make them very rare spawn, like capital ships. The main fighting force of any army are regular soldiers, not special forces. Currently, it's basically a "suicide by CG".
- Absolutely NO high-level NPCs in LowRES and probably Nav Beacons.
- Moderate chance to meet Dangerous NPC and small chance to meet Deadly NPC in HiRES.
- Most NPCs in HazRES are Dangerous, moderate chance to meet Deadly, small chance to meet Elite.
- Interdictions are based on your combat rank. You shouldn't be ganked by Elite when you're Harmless. (Also, kindly stop the "crazy pirate" nonsense! I can't drop my cargo if I haven't any. Especially if I haven't any cargo racks!)
- Powerplay NPCs should be mostly mid- and high-level, starting with Master. Greenhorns doesn't get accepted into President's personal guard. This way, PP can even get an influx of participants, since this is a place where you can get some hard fights.
- Police should stay high-level (just like now), especially in high security systems.

This is pretty much exactly what needs to happen. In addition, AI at this level of skill needs to be limited by ammo and heat exactly like a player.

Perhaps it is too early to judge, I've been in my favorite HazRes post just for half an hour, and got my ass beaten pretty bad by wing of two incredibly slippery 'dangerous' Vultures (I am flying FAS), but I'd say AI difficulty is just about right. I'll see how it goes, some adaptions of my play style should be definitely necessary.

Yup, I got elite for SP aspect, I hope I wont be forced in to coop.
Same here. I've stuck to solo mode, because in my experience human opponents in general tend to be overly aggressive and always on the look out for 'easy pickings' regarding other newer players. I'm sure the majority that aren't like that, but the thought of some spotty teenager handing me my butt on a plate and then taunting me about my newbiness doesn't appeal. Maybe when my combat skills are refined somewhat and I can take on higher ranked NPCs with impunity then I will take the plunge.

You see, this is the thing:

The game has to be easy enough that players who are NOT combat equipped or as combat capable still have a chance to compete. Less capable players HAVE to be able to fight back and/or run away. If not, they stand to lose far more than the combat junkies realize.

Combat players lose their ship, which they get replaced.

Explorers lose that, PLUS potentially MONTHS of gameplay accumulating data.

Traders lose not only their ship, but also their CARGO, potentially all their assets. A trader destroyed could easily find himself bankrupted, his whole game ruined.

Traders and explorers stand to lose far more than combat pilots, so need to be able to avoid that fate. If the AI is made hard enough that the combat pilots have difficulty competing, then noncombatants will not be able to compete. If that happens, those players will STOP PLAYING. That doesn't help anyone.

Now, consider this too:

If the game is too easy for you, there are things you can do to make it more challenging. You twink out your ship with all the mega-super-ultra powerful stuff, and then complain that the game is too easy. If so, DON'T use all the top end gear. I've said this in other games. If you're finding combat too easy, put less effective gear on your ship. That will make it more challenging for YOU without making it impossible for others to play.

I was just one shotted by an NPC vulture in a combat zone. This wouldnt be that abnormal, except I was in an A rated Federal Corvette with more than 90% hull. My shields were down, and I was preparing to leave and re arm when my ship instantly exploded. 90% to 0% in one shot. I posted a thread on this but I'm new new here so it has to be reviewed before it is posted. I recorded the incident and any Xbox players that would like to see can view it in my captures. My gamer tag is Admiral Perses.

Anyone have any insight as to what happened here?
Power plant go boom?
