Then where are the unshielded trading Anacondas?

Then where are the lightly shielding mining Pythons?

Then where are the unarmed exploration Asps?

And why on earth do so many NPCs have engineer modded weapons?

Pick the best combat CMDR in game. give this person a completely unmodded Corvette, with the loadout of his/her choosing, put a completely modded Vette in the hands of someone who has never played one single minute in this game with a 5 minute crash course on the controls, & the so called elite CMDR will be dead in under two minutes or run away with his/her tail between it's legs. I'm no good at combat by any means and yet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1C9tkBk9nM

Unfortunately that is not what is happening, the matchmaking is daft and the modded weapons / systems on NPCs are just way too prevalent. It needs a very serious rebalance because traders like me are not enjoying it as much as the pew-pew brigade.

The game's marketing says "Play Your Way" - not any more, now it is play our way or enjoy the insurance screen.

Repped for truth

Your description of the in-game experience is utter rubbish. SJA is clearly talking about making the NPC's scale even better to the skill levels of the Players, not about making them *more* capable.

I think you need to read her post on this thread - "new skills for higher ranks to make them a little less predictable."

Yes there is a need to rebalance and she admits that.

More expensive ships don't make the game more fun, they make it easier by enabling faster NPC kills or more credit earning. If you feel like you're "grinding" then you're not enjoying the game and should either do something else or revisit your in-game priorities IMHO.
I do not want to start any flame-war, but saying to players (paying customers) to go to do something else is pretty short sighted.
If enough peoples will stop playing (and paying future season passes etc.) the game as a whole will be a pure loss for FD and they will stop the servers one day, sooner or later. This happened in a lot of MMOs in the past.

You will have to engage the AI in one form or another weather you are hunter or prey so...

For 12 minutes of fun gameplay I'd ask for 0 payouts. Most games I play don't have payout or progression - I play them for fun not to get to a certain level. Unlike RL I don't have to get paid to put in 'work' - I do it cause I like it.
I used to play different sports at Amateur level - bc I liked them. I liked the challenge AND the recreational aspect. If you do not see the difference between RL and a Game then you are indeed special.

I'm pretty sure voluntary golf paid the mortgage...

I don't know if they're too easy/too hard, but they're still stupid!

I'm in a startwinder with no cargo rack, no bounty, and just got taken out by "I don't need a scanner to know what's waiting in your hold, and it's mine now" Head>Desk!

wow, went to work, this thread was on page 3, get back its on sixty.

so what did i miss....

Don't do it! don't read back!

You'll return, to this page:

... because each time I try to head for the destination WHAM - another interdiction - OK so I have avoided the insurance screen so far but only just in some cases. It is just daft.

Then fight the ionterdiction - I am far from an expert (bc I mostly used to submit and collect the bounty ) but I had 3 successfull evasions out of 5 ( all Elite NPCs ) - the two times I wasn't successfull one of them I submitted and run and won the next interdiuction by the same guy and the other the police jumped in and fried him.

I will admit that the proliferation of Elite NPCs seems a bit over the top (I am dangerous myself and yet I only get interdicted by Elites) - I will have to play more to a larege enough sample size though.

Sounds realistic. I've met a few human pilots like that. :D

You make a great argument for reseting.

Post a screenshot when you do!

Which is totally not suggesting they should be easier?!?

What's your combat rank btw, and do you have military rank or PP allegiance? Just considering factors in the level of hassle you recieve

The shield held up well but once they dropped I can't believe how fast the PP was toasted!

Apparently there is a minor difference in opinion about how much more or less fun the updated AI is in combat situations :)
.
Saved you reading 60 pages of variations around "Yes it better!" and "No it is worse"

Why so mad? He actually makes a great argument as to why he is having fun with the game. You are the one who is dissatisfied. Maybe you should reset.

It is going to happen to Elite too.

This is probably just the first step.

They're making the mistake of listening to the wrong people.

The most hardcore players are the ones that need to be ignored, not listened to.

This isn't the first game to make those mistakes. If you look around the MMO and Pseduo-MMO marketplace you'll see a hellscape of failed games which all made the mistake of listening to an increasingly small but vocal minority of the playerbase who wants games to be a second job.
