Dunno what all the fuss is that big ships are too weak.

I am an average pilot at best and I just spent an hour in a haz res with a corvette, only made about 2 mil, which should be changed, but as far as difficulty goes my shields never even went below 33% without me using scbs. Most were of dangerous rank, couple condas, couple FDS, FAS, and FGS, some vultures, and a clipper.

Sure the AI is better at avoiding fire but boosting and turning around still buys you enough time in a corvette to melt any targets, and with huge multis that isn't long.

I like the new AI but I think that profits from combat need to be adjusted accordingly, then it can be challenging and rewarding.

You think it was plane sailing for everyone that started playing elite, we all had false starts and do overs and had to start from scratch again before we got a handle on it. Also in the early days it was very much harder to make money, now its a cake walk and everybody thinks they should be in an anaconda after a month where as before it could take up to a year to earn it. Man up and play the bloody game and stop whinging at every turn, you`ll feel like ye will have achieved something at the end of it otherwise its a farce and means nothing.

Sorry, but I have to say this. Nothing, in any game ever made, EVER, should take a year of real time in a computer game to earn. Nothing. That's not manning up, it's devaluing your leisure time so much that you're effectively declaring that the company can do anything to you, ever, and you'll take it without complaint. It's not like Elite's "end-game" ships are anything to write home about either, which if anything just adds insult to insanity.

A year of real-time effort...I can't even. I just can't even. Please tell me you value your time more than that. Surely. [weird]

I don't think Frontier will change the new abilities of the AI. I just think they will change the match making and equip them accordingly. I hope everyone will be happy and we can play our wonderful game and post how great it is. Instead of arguing...
That would be great.
Because I want to enjoy a hard combat experience , but on the flip side I dont want other players to not have fun.

However there allways will be arguing I mean once on youtube I got death threat PMs for saying ''I think elite is a great game and will have more content than SC by the time SC is out'' normaly I would be offended but you know wanting someone dead over a game is... unique.

ok, take another point of view.. you are a player, even in solo, you find a shieldless ship, with D rated modules, and you are on a decent ship.. you expect the NPC to run? to survive? no, right?

you interdict a shieldless t9 spec for trading, you will complain if you cant win the interdiction or kill it, right?

you are good at combat, and find a harmless NPC, you expect to win it, right??

I assume the main issue here is not the AI, is that combat ranks are nr given appropriately. Deal with it, if you died to a "mostly harmless" AI, your rank should be "harmless", please, ask FD to change it accordingly.

No offence, but you should be on the stage... Maybe some of us that have played for a good while and have gained in rank by defending ourselves and doing missions could ask to be demoted eh? lol i've not set foot in a hirez, lowrez or indeed any damn rez, yet my character is classed as competent. Now, take it for what you will, but playing solo with no help and in a slow ship, when 2 fast/lighter ships can jump you and kill you in less than 30 seconds something is up... And that was with A rated shields, and beam turrets, neither of which may have not been there in the 1st place.

All these combat jocks and confused people need to try 2 things imo... 1/ get urself a trade ship, go out solo and wait to be jumped. 2/ take same ship again and still with a hold of cargo, take a delivery mission or 2 and watch yourself get swarmed like you've got honey on your parts!

The play your way has become, play our way or else... Would surprise me if it was a ploy to force us solo players into group or open by making us need help from others... no chance, i trust no one! :(

I'm planning on running a T6 sometime this weekend. I'm curious to see how it works out for me as well.

Make sure and grab a mission or two if you want a good example... you wont get peace! :(

Sorry then.
If you want to outrun an ship you are going to need something like an ASP or a Cobra otherwise its creative flight , and I have to say I have yet to figure out how to survive in a type-7 but I am sure I will find a way (I guess jumping out of SC when hostiles are inbound , but they might follow.)

Privata I'll post my T7 build when I finish work.
No shields, no weapons, no problem.

You may lose a little paint though haha.

No I don't believe it was plain sailing which makes your point of view even more despicable...you seem to be forgetting that the game was a lot easier when you started, whereas now if you were a genuinely new player, would your opinion be the same I wonder ^^

When I started, I died 10 times just trying to leave the station. Itchynipples was base camping in an Anaconda. The only way I escaped was to boost like crazy and go cold asap.
We Learned the game the hard way. THEN it became easy.

BTW, when it comes to rant that the NPCs should not have the upgraded equipment, be carefull for what you want.

It seems that materials (and data scans) necessary for upgrades are only dropped by ships already equipped with those upgrades. If there will be lower amount of NPC ships with upgrades, the grind for materials will be much harder.

again i have to point out, that your combat rank WILL RISE IF YOU DEFEAT SHIPS. i only defeat the ships that interdicted me and my combat gets to competent. i dont go looking for fights, and i should not have to ask support to change MY combat rank to deal with a problem that will STILL occur. the only way your opinion is going to be accurate is to say if you cant win against the new AI with super modded weapons DONT FFIGHT WHEN INTERDICTED RUN!

and it still wont work. read back my posts on what happened to me in my asp explorer. i only survived because police arrived. i COULDNT run from an AI npc with either modded thrusters or modded longer range weapons (probably both). i would not have managed to charge my FSD for high wake or low wake because i would have been dead had not the police arrived. how will changing my combat rank to harmless stop that master level interdiction? you seem to think i should not be meeting any levels above mine in normal supercruise in a high security system.

no, don't tell me to read back, you go back and read my post about killing ships in my asp. same game, same ship.. skills maybe??

You know what would be really cool? If every time someone posted a comment suggesting the AI is too hard, someone at FD would attach a modifier to his Cmdr that dialed the NPCs down a notch and vice-versa. Some of the posters here would not be able to get out of the no fire zone before seeing the rebuy screen! Might inspire a little more empathy for the other side- from both sides.

Hey......FD......;)

I dont think thats a bug , but to be safe I would recomend sending a bug repport just in case.
who knows maybe some crazy variable was making the ships go too fast.

Do you remeber what ships you were fighting?
i was too busy trying to survive and evade fire and return fire to note the ship type. i noted he was master level and wanted. it looked traingular shaped so could been a viper maybe or some triangular ship. if he had gotten my powerplant down much more i wouldnt even be bothering with the forums i would be playing shadow of mordor and contemplating whether elite shouldnt be removed from my hard drive to free some space for another game. i REALLY like the new police AI and response though. that was the only good point of the whole encounter, the relief when i realised i might not lose the ship after all.

Rubbish, we all got slaughtered starting out until we gained experience, what do you know your only playing the game 2wks and you already crying. Stop, take a deep breath learn from your mistakes and play the game. Worry about whats in front of you and have a plan to get out of trouble if you need to. The cobra is one of the best ships in the game and can out run most ships and still makes easy money. No excuses whatsoever, this community is excellent at giving advice and helping new Cmdr`s, there are no secrets here, no one gives a damn about that crap here, most of us are mature gamers. What I dislike is this defeatist attitude and following whinge feast when there are so many options open to people.Ask any question you like for help, search the forums, just dive in and play the game and you will get the better of it and know when to fight or when to run and survive and thats the beauty of it.

obviously not the same as my opponent yet. when you meet one like it, and if you have identical loadout that ISNT optimised only for combat, and if you dont live past 45 seconds because the cops didnt jump in to save you then we can talk.

It sounds like it was a fast ship. there are ships that can catch up with asps. not many but there are some.

Thats part of the game. its risk reward.
Do you go full profit and risk being a target? or do you ballance it out , loose maximum profit but gain in lifespan.

Its up to you thats why ship builds are shared on the forums , its a key part of victory.

I mean I have been killed in my exploration ASP , did not mind... felt a bit upset but its part of it.

Not quite - it's only if you make money from it. Go hunt and practise in lawless systems and you get no rank or recognition for your work, only experience. Choosing your fights, and how to finish them, is important.

Actually it's no. of kills only and skill relative to yours. Info page. You can see the effect if you ever hand in a bunch of bounties a couple of hours or more after earning them. You'll get credits but no skill increase.

Yes ! only pick fights you can win. outnumber the enemy when possible.
if 5 is all you need bring 100 !
well , a wing of 100 will never happen nor 5... but emmm... yeah my point is winging up can help if you have friends.

I am allways willing to help when I have time , dont even need payment because of how the game works out money sharing with wings

Ooh. Thanks for the correction - dunno where I'd gotten that from. I'll stop er... focusing my efforts so.

I'm dreadful at handing in bounties. I've got a whole list of unclaimed bits and bobs.

And to those that can't or won't "man up"? Think FD will refund all our monies back? Full retail price of ED, of Horz, of all the paint jobs and other junk???

Personally, I think if it's the case of there is no fix, then they should...

It's like: You have a new car, you've been around the block in it for a year and it's service is due. now, your shiny car is a automatic, that's all you can drive, but you leave the car in for it's service/tune up (patch 2.1) only to have it returned as a manual/stick shift and undrivable... Ofc some can drive a manual and their fine with the new chore, but some others are a bit screwed and pretty upset with the garage!

If it's not broke, don't fix it! Those that think it was broke... well, go play Souls, or maybe you could "Git bad!"? (oh look it does work both ways, go figure!). :(
