I suspect NPCs are doing something cheaty. The rest of the update seems great, but I'm almost certain that they have buffed turn rates and maybe damage - or at least they are spawning frequently with engineered modules that are at best difficult for players to get and almost certainly won't ever be common among the player population. My Clipper used to be a formidable warship but she crumbled like paper mache to a Corvette last night and never managed to drop its shields - which has never happened to me before.

If nothing else I think we can all agree that the distribution of engineered modules among NPCs should be at least even with the distribution among players, yes?

It's easy. The AI I mean. Really easy. Too easy. I'm a casual player. Hardly play at all. But the AI,... Oh, come on. Did you think you'r Eliterank meant something when you were picking off easy kills?

Oh no... They fight back. Woe is me. That's not fair. Well Moany git like me has been waiting for this. Like the original. Go into a violent area; epect violence. If you can't handle it tjen back off for a bit and learn some skills. My combat rank I would describe as mostly pathetic. But I'm smashing the hell out of the 'new' AI.

Dunno how that could be.

Obnoxiously yours as always, Avi x

Go buy yourself a T9, spec it for trade, wait to get jumped, come back and tell us how easy it was... :)

Hmm, after reading this long thread, I finally decided to test the situation in the game approx. around 18:00, when someone wrote in another thread, that the meta-alloys can be bought at Maia system.
I have all my ships at Andhrimi, so I took my Asp, did some minor retooling (same as I did in my two or three days in Beta - get rid of unnecessary SBC and boosters, attach chaff launcher and PD, swap some lasers for multicannons) and flied to Maia system (380 Ly or something like this).
During the 16 jumps, I had one interdiction (some Diamond something), so I surrendered, boosted and jumped again. Rest of travel was without any interruption. At the Maia system, I bought some meta-alloys and made my way to DECIAT system to the engineer. Travel was also without any problem, only one interdiction in the DECIAT system, made by some Expert Python. I simply repeated the drill and run.
Engineer told me, that I need some disrupted wake echoes, some chemical processors and some arsenic for the first upgrade. So far, so good.

After the dinner, when I finally had time to play again (approx. around 22:00), I travelled back to Andhrimi. Whole travel was without any interference. At Andhrimi, I switched to my Vulture, did some minor changes (like switch one pulse laser for multi, get rid of shield boosters, put PD and Chaff launcher) and I travelled to Nav Beacon in the Andhrimi system.
There I spent two or maybe three hours hunting Wanted ships, scanning the High Wake points with my wake scanner, scanning as much ships as I can and scooping materials from ships I killed.
After that, my ammo for multicannon was really low and I had something like 4 chemical processors, 21 disrupted wake echoes and plenty of other materials. All systems of my Vulture was 100% and hull was 100% too. I met and killed the Deadly, Dangerous, Expert etc. ships. Possibly the top level opponent was some Elite rank Federal Assault Ship. It took couple of minutes, it was a nice fight and I salvaged some fancy higher level materials from this ship.
I did not make chalks, but I killed something like 20-30 ships of various sizes and levels. Still alive and untouched, I returned to my base station at Andhrimi system.
Tomorrow or during Sunday, I will try to mine some Arsenic and make a trip back to DECIAT with my Python, just to test the first upgrade.

Seriously, the AI is a bit harder, but it is nothing to write home about or rage quit the game.

Some observations:

1. Use the PD or two. Missiles are now a good weapon and NPCs are using them a lot.
2. Get rid of those bulky, power hungry and stupid SCBs and shield boosters.
3. Be patient and wait. Use the environment against your target. Those police squads can make 90% of work for you.
4. It is not necessary to destroy the ship alone. Just "tag" it with your lasers and when the police squad finish their job, just collect the materials. If you tagged the ship (made it hostile to you), materials will be dropped as soon as the ship explode.
5. If you are alone and do not want to fight, simply run away.

P.S. I am not a good pilot and I just returned to this game couple of days ago, after nine months long pause.

ok, take another point of view.. you are a player, even in solo, you find a shieldless ship, with D rated modules, and you are on a decent ship.. you expect the NPC to run? to survive? no, right?

you interdict a shieldless t9 spec for trading, you will complain if you cant win the interdiction or kill it, right?

you are good at combat, and find a harmless NPC, you expect to win it, right??

I assume the main issue here is not the AI, is that combat ranks are nr given appropriately. Deal with it, if you died to a "mostly harmless" AI, your rank should be "harmless", please, ask FD to change it accordingly.

Your playing 2 weeks and lost everything, how much can you lose after 2 wks really that you couldn`t make back in 2 days or less with the bit of experience you have gained. Pleas spare us such rubbish posts, maybe the game is not for you if you really believe what you are posting.

But my past two weeks is not relevant because the environment has changed...ye neglected that part out when ye effectively called me a liar and to get lost...charming attitude ^^

I'm done, you are clearly one of those people who thinks that your way to play is the only way to play.

I would also like to add that "since" is spelled S I N C E, not "sins". Not trying to be mean, but if you are going to have it in your signature you might as well spell it correctly.
Like if I ever said my way was the only way.
Everything I say is my opinion and I am not forceing you to play the way I do.

But the things I am saying about the game are not from me but from livestreams , dev interviews and the hundreds of documents from KS.

If anything with all due respect you are the one who thinks only one gameplay style is valide as I am offering advice , I go with what ever FD puts out. if I dont like it , I just dont use it or dont play.
Not trying to be hostile but I am trying to help and you just insult me ? why ? I understand that death in the game can be upsetting but the game was advertised this way , Kickstarted this way.

I am sorry if your not having fun , and if I am wrong about elite then so be it. but based on all the vids , livestreams , documents , older games and comments by the devs in the forum this is the way they want it... otherwise its a bug , report it maybe if you think its that bad

And insulting an other user , is against the forum rules by the way.
And anyway spelling is not at all important here as long as you understand what I am saying , I was not educated in england anyway so my spelling sucks hardcore

Supernoob here. I mostly Log in and fly around, kill a couple mobs, and grind some PP rep.

The AI has cost me ~6million in 1 day. I logged out.

I wonder how many votes above are needed for it to actually be a useful sample size
Technically, it doesn't matter because this isn't a scientific poll and is full of selection bias. Straw polls like this can be alright to take the temperature of a group but it's really hard to extrapolate to a larger population. Like a lot of people point out, only a minority of ED players go on these forums.

Powerplay seems to be aimed at high end players , as it can offer a large risk.

I would recomend making money via trade (if you like that) or low RES sites as they have a lot of cop protection.

However PP can be amazing for any skill level if you find a friend to wing up with

You think it was plane sailing for everyone that started playing elite, we all had false starts and do overs and had to start from scratch again before we got a handle on it. Also in the early days it was very much harder to make money, now its a cake walk and everybody thinks they should be in an anaconda after a month where as before it could take up to a year to earn it. Man up and play the bloody game and stop whinging at every turn, you`ll feel like ye will have achieved something at the end of it otherwise its a farce and means nothing.

Yeah , I think FD are monitoring our flights and will adjust accordingly.

again i have to point out, that your combat rank WILL RISE IF YOU DEFEAT SHIPS. i only defeat the ships that interdicted me and my combat gets to competent. i dont go looking for fights, and i should not have to ask support to change MY combat rank to deal with a problem that will STILL occur. the only way your opinion is going to be accurate is to say if you cant win against the new AI with super modded weapons DONT FFIGHT WHEN INTERDICTED RUN!

and it still wont work. read back my posts on what happened to me in my asp explorer. i only survived because police arrived. i COULDNT run from an AI npc with either modded thrusters or modded longer range weapons (probably both). i would not have managed to charge my FSD for high wake or low wake because i would have been dead had not the police arrived. how will changing my combat rank to harmless stop that master level interdiction? you seem to think i should not be meeting any levels above mine in normal supercruise in a high security system.

I don't think Frontier will change the new abilities of the AI. I just think they will change the match making and equip them accordingly. I hope everyone will be happy and we can play our wonderful game and post how great it is. Instead of arguing...

No I don't believe it was plain sailing which makes your point of view even more despicable...you seem to be forgetting that the game was a lot easier when you started, whereas now if you were a genuinely new player, would your opinion be the same I wonder ^^

I dont think thats a bug , but to be safe I would recomend sending a bug repport just in case.
who knows maybe some crazy variable was making the ships go too fast.

Do you remeber what ships you were fighting?
