About as long as modern "L2P/Get Gud" gamers would last if they snarked off in the Tudor Court on which that stuff is based. (WHACK!.....thunk)

I have never told anyone L2p or "get good". I don't think those phrases are remotely helpful.

I do however believe that people who aren't willing to even try to see if they can learn are being a bit selfish and ruining people's fun by demanding that the whole game bend to their low expectations.

Harmless and Competent AI exist for a reason. Just like Master and Elite exist for a reason. So we all have enemies to fight at our skill levels. To learn the game at our own pace, and advance when possible.

I'd rather 40% of the player base change their unrealistic expectations of galactic dominance over idiotic AI, and instead learn when and how to run, than have 60% of the player base get bored and leave.

Everyone just stop moaning, quite honestly.

It's like this. Previously - however ridiculous this was - you could take on the equivalent of an f22 in the equivalent of a news helicopter, and reliably kick it's      in a sopwith camel. You could attack highly secure military installation with a single jeep, or observation chopper. Enemy responses were often so flaccid that you could ignore them. If you did happen to have an F22, enemies suicided against you and you got adulation for it. If you got pulled over running drugs, you shot the Policeman to prevent him searching your vehicle, and that was easy, and carried no risk of consequences.

It was broken. And people got used to it like that.

Now they've fixed it and you need to think before you get into a scrap. Breaking the law has consequences. Fighting with hardened criminals or trained military officers is dangerous.
An expensive ship is not the path to automated, instant victory it used to be.

Yes, the game has changed. But it's not been broken, it's been fixed.

You need to get good in order to win. Either get good at avoiding conflict (stealth, scanning, situational awareness) or get good at fighting. Take whichever approach suits you.

It still needs some tweaking so the AI feels more realistic and balanced. Their "reaction times" probably need slowing down (so that they seem less precognitive) and maybe engineer equipment should be a lot rarer on AI ships. After that their actual difficulty is probably ok.

I've already posted in another thread before noticing this one, so here it is again.

Medium intensity zones used to be quite easy before. After being away for 2-3 months, I said let's dip our toes into a low intensity zone just to see how it all behaves, before venturing into medium and high intensity zones.

I went in, died within 10 seconds. Didn't even have time to pull my guns. I kid you not. I only got to see some 6 ships surrounding me, appeared out of nowhere right next to me. I literally had no chance. I saw a message about some impulse damage, next thing I see - after about 10-12 seconds of play (well play was more like me flying to the actual place), I see the buy insurance screen. It was all rather instant. Full health, shields all that, next I see, I'm at the insurance screen. Haven't actually had the time to FIRE. This instakill is something else indeed.

Now I'm not saying it should be as easy as it was before, but this...this is something else. And no, I'm not a newbie player either, been doing conflict zones for over a year now (with about 3 months of rest due to other commitments). For now, I'm out of here until some balance is restored. Over one mill credits gone down the drains in 10 seconds...

As stated before to Frontier in the beta phase, the problem is not in the new AI, the problem relies on the new very very OP modules that are almost impossible for you to get and every NPC already has : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZN_yZ07-18

Half true. The NPC modules are the real reason people are having issues, however they are not OP grade modules. Players can and will obtain FAR better versions. It will just take time to learn where they can be gathered quickly.

Oh for goodness sake, players..............IT IS OVER......this is NOT the great space adventure game in a realistic "living" Galaxy we were hoping to get...its just a dumb shooting game in a 3D Asteroids/Space Invaders setting.....very clunky game with ultra basic mechanics not much deeper than the original..........
.
As it has ALWAYS been....a mile wide and an inch deep......multiplayer shooting shooting shooting, that's it, that's all they are going to do........... because it is easy that way...they don't have to make a game or "content", they use you as the content.......
.
I mean come on......Elite D, was released...then we got Power Play...DOA.......then we got CQC, now a wasteland of empty server space.......Then came horizons, we get to land on rocks......and do? the same stuff we had been doing before........and then we get this, Engineers, another dud that puts a grind wall in the way, but the NPCs have al the gear already, so now you are just grinding to play the game as you already had been....
.
No body is "ELITE" if everyone is.........and now you have to grind to catch up with the NPCs, so that you can do????????? THE SAME OLD STUFF........THINK about it.....what has changed? What new game play has been added? None, just tweaks to the stats, tweaks to the graphics FX, ......this is light weight.......it is a thin smear of new colour and "max" stats.....the game has not changed at all......

the answers is , Get gid , you should of anticipated an attack from 6 npcs with practice you might be able to shoot at one

I'm sorry - anyone saying the AI is too easy or OK has simply not come across an NPC with a Weapon Of Unimaginable Power (WOUP).

If you have come across a WOUP - and survived, and still don't find it challenging enough - why not run shieldless, or put a medium laser on that large hardpoint ?

As many have said on this thread - the game as it is - is unplayable for most.

AI <> WOUP ...
Asking Frontier to change AI will not fix anything.

You mean you're finding it difficult biting off more than you can chew?

I'm certainly not having any trouble at all playing the game. I hardly even ever run across NPCs in combat unless it's on my terms.

There is a lot of exaggeration going on here.

agreed , just would like to have a chance thats all , perhaps it was a bit too easy before , but this has changed way too much

I have no problem with the AI, my problem so far is that they all seem to be super enhanced!!! I thought engineer upgrades were supposed to be a rare thing in the galaxy??? I had a deadly FGS take my shields in seconds, I managed to kill him but was close.

The game now seems to be forcing me to do the whole engineer thing which I have NO interest in just so I can do missions that I love!! Keep the AI, just please tone down enhancements on them.

Did you just equate AI with "damage per second"? You do realize that aiming and flying routines are a completely different thing than raw killing power?

People praising the AI aren't talking about their "WOUPs". But if you knew that, then maybe you'd also know that people who appreciate AI also know how to avoid getting shot in the first place. So no, we don't really worry about NPC damage, and are more concerned with their ability to actually apply it.
