Engineers Wanted after defending myself

Hey dude

I'm glad you posted this too. I've been wondering what effect it had.

What makes it beneficial to turn off during smuggling? I'm probably missing something obvious so I apologise in advance!

Just in case you get pulled out of warp by a pirate, the police will come to assist you, they will also scan everything in the area. Best left switched off if you have illegal goods onboard.

I can't remember a time since release that I didn't need to at least identify the target before shooting back. There have been many times where if I didn't see the red wanted tag on the target before I shot back, I'd get a bounty. Just to be clear, I'm not talking about KWarrant scanning, I'm talking about that auto scan that you do when you face a target you have locked on that reveals their name, affiliation and legal status.

Every NPC that ever fired at me did show as already scanned and if it was wanted/enemy. I never needed to wait my target-locker to get the info while being mowed down by said npc.

Yep as I said, its bugged! No way a player should get a bounty from defending against a hostile ship! Scanned or not, a clean player with no bounty or PP faction should not get a wanted status for self defence...
