Engineers Thank You Frontier!!

I just have to say thank you to Frontier,

Between the new AI, The countless bugs that were working before 2.1, The NPC ships that seem to be generally OP, and the fact that my new python seems to be weaker than a pre-2.1 T7, I just want to say a big thanks.

Thank you Frontier for finally making me get off the game and catch up on my studies that I was neglecting. I might actually achieve that diploma now. [up]

this was my post in another thread, honestly I like the game but this update leaves a negative impression on me.

For the first time since I have played the game I have had the game crash. I have encountered so many bugs that I just don't have the energy to do a proper bug report for each one.

Look, I love the game, I'm addicted to it, I have lots of game time logged, have tonnes of paintjobs, joined a wing, convinced a friend to buy it too. I just can't get enough. But with 2.1 I am getting fed up.

I would rather have waited an extra week, an extra month, an extra six months, for something that was properly tested and implemented, and gone through with a fine toothed comb, for a release that was bug free and exactly as the devs wanted it. But what we have is a bug-fest. from the slider under my radar not moving, to essential items not being in a working state, from not being able to type in comms or in the galaxy map search bar, to the game completely crashing while in mid-air over farseer inc. (all of which happened within a 30min sitting)

Then we have the npcs and engineer mods, we have to work hard, and grind to get everything the engineers want so we can mod our ships, yet two of the starting engis were completely off limits because of item bugs, and as much as we are told that mods should be uncommon, the npc ships almost have them as standard. And don't get me started on buffs and nerfs, a low ranked npc cobra should not be able to near destroy a python in under 10 seconds, but hey I got interdicted by one and was down to 52% hull in under 10 seconds without even laying eyes on it. even with a C6 shield it shouldn't go down that fast and the hull get so damaged by a smaller ship especially if engi mods are supposedly uncommon on npcs. Small ships should be able to out-maneuver big ships but not out-gun them as well.

With the bugs still in the game (yes I know there will be patches) and the npc difficulty spike, the buffs and nerfs, as a mostly PvE player, I am finding it harder to enjoy.

Good luck with your studies! :p

Hi Brett,

You'll notice this is my first post on your forum.

I came to the forum to try and find out what was going on with the game after I got nearly instantly killed (from the time I submitted to interdiction to being killed was maybe 15 seconds....?) My shields were gone and my screen was corrupted before I even had time to think. I don't mind games with challenge, but having no chance, what is the point?

I've never really understood the interdiction process and have never found it fun (I got killed once before and took about a six-month break from the game). I play solo and just want to make my way through the game, see the beautiful star systems and basically be left alone. I fly a trading ship, don't take missions and don't participate in powerplay.

I'm a casual player Brett, I don't have a super fancy gaming rig, or VR, or a HOTAS setup. Just a mouse and a keyboard. Half the time I can get away from an interdiction, sometimes I just submit and try to run and hope for the best. I don't have a ton of time to put into this game, so a death and loss of a ship is....well game breaking.

It is Saturday and a holiday in the US. I was so looking forward to seeing the Engineers. I played a good portion of my day. However, I don't have time to put in half my actual real life day trying to build up something, and then have it all taken away. If I could keep that time investment and enjoy it again later that would be one thing. However, after a bunch of hours, I got nowhere. Actually I spent my time trying to play your game and ended up going backwards! It will take me hours to get that insurance back. Well it would, but I'm done for awhile. It's a game Brett, it is supposed to be fun. It isn't right now. At least not for me. And judging by the forums and feedback in the gaming community as a whole, not for a lot of people.

I played Elite when I was a kid, back when it was wire-frame. What you all have done with Elite has made it a beautiful, incredible, wonderful place to see. Brett, I like Elite and I wish you all well and hope that Frontier has much success. It just isn't the game for me, not right now, not with it's current mechanics.

One last thing. I came to the forums in frustration -and honestly, hurt- that I lost all my "work". I was hoping to find an answer as to what I did wrong. What I found was this post by you, the Community Manager for the game, making fun of another customer who was having the same experience as I.

That is disheartening.

Good luck Brett, and to the rest of the Elite Team. I may be back in a few months to check out multi-crew.

Given the amount of threads already on this type of subject and the dripping sarcasm Brett's response is hardly surprising.

Engineers has provided a sea change in the game that many have waited for. Stay your course FD.

Edit: Obviously bugs need to be sorted.

Yes, bugs need to be squished, no argument there.
But I agree, and I hope FD will hold the line. The main problem is that many people got too content and this update simply ripped them from their comfort zone.
WHICH IS A GOOD THING!

Ok, let us hope that your realistic senses will increase too before you start/continue your study.
It may look as if you would need it..:)

What was actually more surprising was that people were defending this!

You must not be accustomed to this forum so.
All development errors are defended well.
But in terms of bad ideas and errors, this last update surpassed everything.

I really wish No mans Sky will arrive soon, then at least some will go for the new shiny in town.

To what "realistic senses" might you be referring? Are you seriously trying to bloody infer that I may lack intelligence based off a bugged game? how in the hell do you get "realistic senses need improving" from a game? If you want to be a troll then go elsewhere. I sure as      won't take your     .

A cheeky reply, really? I think the intent here is pretty clear and not very professional IMO. Well done.

Is it possible for you, as representative of the company, to reply to other threads where folks are asking for feedback and help on issues? Or can you only post sniping remarks and not help the community?
