This. Game. Is. Awesome!

I haven't been excited for a game to come out in a while - perhaps, ever! The pics and videos of Alpha 4 look incredible.

That is all. :)

I agree completely !!! Rings of Asellus 3 show how big space will be in the ED.

This will be a great game, which surely will change the gaming world again

I completely agree. The devs have made a tremendous fantastic job so far. This game will again write history. Thank you so much for this great game. And this is only the Alpha we experience..

It's gonna be a loooooong 15 days, 9 hours, 46 minutes and 12 seconds.

Also I need to buy a Windows license in the meantime.

Anyone know if Windows 8 or Windows 7 works better with the game?

Inserting from supercruise at 100km/s into the Rings of Asellus 3 is one of those 'got to be seen to be believed' moments in a game. There are literally thousands of asteroids on screen (models, blended into imposters, blended into the rings). And the rings themselves must be 10's of km thick. Utterly beautiful and staggering in a game.:eek::eek::eek::eek:

[And I managed to preserve a sense of wonder, even if my inner child is smirking a bit immaturely over the first sentence].;)

When you don't end up 'in' an asteroid that is ;)

It's unforgivable how much work is required to get Windows 8.1 (Update 1) humming for a desktop system but once you've invested that time it's pretty nice.

My gaming PC has Windows 7 - which I'm OK with. Works pretty much like the Windows products of old. The laptop on which I'm typing this post runs on Windows 8.1 which I absolutely hate.

I kid you not when I say that Windows is one of the only products in the world that literally seems to get worse with every "improvement" they make. Same applies to MS applications like Word and PowerPoint. I've used MS products practically my entire life - save for a short bout with Apple - and for anything other than gaming I'm going to get Apple HW and SW moving forward. Windows 8 is the straw that broke the camel's back.

But I digress.... ED is AWESOME!

I played the game again last night and the game really has such great graphics and sound far more than what I was expecting.

I just want to say congratulations to Frontier Developments. Can't wait to hear all the speeches at next years BAFTA Game awards!

This is solid confirmation that FD are making the game I always dreamed about and doing it with not just lots of talent but also with a real passion for what they are making.

To the people doing visual effects and sound, you guys have gone far beyond anything I could have expected!

This morning is the first time I've had a chance to watch some videos. Bumvelcrow's pocket review:

hyperspace:
rings
star map
planets
Knowing that I still have to wait two weeks to play it myself (and get head tracker working) :(
Overall :D

Thangewvermuch. Frontier seem to have absorbed a large number of very talented bods who all seem to have decided that they want to make the ultimate space game. I can wait to play it!

Go for windows 7. Windows 8 has a horrid UI in my opinion.

I hear the ui argument all the time, there is nothing wrong with win 8 ui. The start menu has changed, big deal.

Go for windows 8 64 bit. Stuff the ui, who cares anyway as you'll be in elite most of the time.

Windows 8 is less resource hungry and handles multi threading on CPU cores better.
