I've lost 8.5 million cr to the new AI over the last 2 days, I'm not rich either, I only have 21.6m left

However.. I am not complaining and I'd rather lose credits from time to time with this new AI than go back to the old one, never lose credits and have 'dumb as a brick' ai that simply isn't fun to play against.

I'm sorry for the people who want games ultra easy and kill things while half-afk but this pandering has to cease now! FD need to come out and say "We're sorry but it's saying as it is" and let people deal with it.

Why? Because if FD listen to the afk'ers and dumb down the ai to the previous level, just think what will happen when the Thargoids or other aliens arrive and people start getting killed. The forum will be flooded with "it's too hard, make them easy to kill" threads and having done it once, they'll feel obliged to do it again. ..aand that'll be pretty much game over for Elite fans.

No offence but not all games suit everyone and if you want to play a passive target shoot game, I'm sure there are loads out there for you.
 
You have been here 6 hours telling everyone git gud. You are only posting git gud.

Instead of another git gud, Post a video on your youtube channel of a 2.1 res bounty hunting with some SERIOUS suggestions or strategy.
-I would say experiance , start by only fighting low rank ships first.
-Then of course make sure if you can start a fight in the enemies deadzone.
-During a fight when not getting hit or trying to turn stay in the blue zone and only use boost and full speed to dodge or get behind a target
-When ever you dont feel like you can win , its best to just bug out rather than die
-Every ship has pros and cons , big ships like the python pack a massive punch but are massive tragets and easy to out maneuver (and is easy to hit the subsystem)
-If you can use local landmarks to use as cover (such as astroids)
-When interdicted when you feel you cant make it , submit that way your FSD charges faster
-Avoid head one fights at all cost unless you are in a massive ship , but even then it can be deadly
-If your ship is a heavy one dont be scared of ramming others , just make sure you have all pips to systems !
-Pip management is ultra important SYS makes your protection recharge faster and makes it more powerfull , Weapons make your weapons recharge faster , and ENG makes you faster and more agile

I've agreed with you on some points, but the dev's attitude needs to change. I don't like the robots that you normally deal with who sit there saying "This community is awesome everything is awesome you're all awesome I love you all" but there's a reason they do that. And as we can see from Privata's newfound passion to defend a video game to his deathbed, the dev's audacity - as you put it - has lead people to believe that a fully upgraded Python being taken down to 0% hull in 2 seconds is "working as intended".

I think we can both agree, that's clearly not the case.


There are entrenched positions on both sides. Extremes attract other extremes. The game isn't perfect, nor is it a massive failure. People aren't leaving the game in droves, nor is this game a best seller. Neither side is right. Its in the middle and the hyperbole is reaching critical mass.

"So you 'Git Gud' guys answer me this question..." is provocative
"So what am I supposed to do when my pimped out corvette goes to 0.2% hull when.." is pointless

What's the point of these questions?
AI bugs =/= as intended.
AI bugs =/= no one has defended

At present, its like two extremist groups arguing over religious text. Its amusing, pointless and sad to watch.

If its a bug the devs will fix it , if not we should just adapt. Even if its not a bug the devs might nerf what ever effect causes this... But they said they will not nerf the AI , they will make the high ranks ones even harder and the low rank ones even dumber
Please, Sarah, don't make low rank AIs even dumber than they already are. They're cake. They need buffing, not nerfing. Geez.
 
I have a feeling that most of the people complaining about the AI were not in Beta?
In Beta, we had the chance to "pimp" out our ships...and match them against this AI and their mods everyone is griping about.

I know from my prospective , once you are modded, its a whole new game.
Im sure in about a month, the groans about the powerful AIs will deminish and things will get back to normal again.


This is precisely correct. Once we have Engi mods, the NPCs will be the ones screaming for mercy. Just like in Beta.


This is absolutely atrocious. NPC's are boosting without delay, I can't outrun anything in an A-grade DBE, and ships are completely disappearing and are untargetable... I've lost millions in rebuys and exploration data credits lost. I can't tell if it's too hard or too easy because I haven't been in a fair fight yet... I'm done until something changes.

Go to Deciat (bring 1T of Meta Alloys). Upgrade the speed on your DBE with "dirty drive tuning," Upgrade the FSD jump range while you're at it. Profit.
 
Can't as in, are now out of money, are unable to leave the station they're at without a pretty decent chance of losing their ship.

And what threats?
No one's said that ED is closing down.
The other guy said there's people that can't or won't play with this mess.
And it's not even the AI that's the problem, it's the maxed upgrades on NPCs, and ships getting taken down in seconds.
I don't even think when doing combat runs before a Sidewinder / Adder would go down that quick!

I stated that there are lots of people that this update has rendered the game unplayable for.
Yes, it's not a 'Human Right to win in Video Games', but a MASSIVE difficulty increase and/or instakill bugs is not fun.

I'm glad you are enjoying it and haven't died - that's great. I'm also willing to bet you've got a more combat orientated ship.

I sold off all assets and bought a Cobra MK3. A graded of course with medium beams and small multis.
32 tonnes of cargo space, a vehicle hangar, fuel scoop and advanced system scanner.
On top are a chaff launcher and a heatsink.

Its a beast, I know it.
 
4 pips in shields give you about 50% more shield strength, IIRC. That would have given the guy one extra second - no difference whatsoever.
Its not up to me if its a bug or not , if FD thinks its a feature then so be it , if it turns out to be a bug then they will fix it.
 
Ohh okay well cannon was my second choice because advanced plasma accelerator was even worse
does saying things like the AI is great make someone a good player?

It depends on how long it takes. Eagles and Sidewinders should always be able to take down Anaconda shields. It's the time it takes that is subject to balance changes.

0 pips in shields and letting him hit you for 20-30 seconds? A bit different than 4 pips in shields over 3 seconds.
 
Decided to test out a high res, had to jump out to escape a master viper, corvette was unable to turn against it and never got it in it's sights. Only the small multicannon turrets were able to hit it with little effect, beam turret never even fired. Jumped back in and killed a conda and some elite pythons and clippers, the two huge beams are the only good thing so far in this game, made a quick 750k profit.

So in short can kill an elite clipper/py, no use against a pretty low rank viper.
 
Very astute of you to notice.

The fact is, I actually DO think people just need to relax and play the game.

Winning is not a human right. Sometimes you loose. I loose all the time as well, but I know how to cut my losses.
And I do most certainly not run to internet forums crying about exploded pixels.
And threats of lawsuits and other nonsense has eroded this thread for a LONG time.

The world has bigger issues. I hope some of the people here face those problems with the same energy. (and threats).

tldr, if its ok to make threats I feel its ok to say "git gud".


Learn definition of threat....you are getting it wrong. So far not seen anyone threaten you.
 
I know you are so much liking talking over each other but:

* SJA removed her Twitter comments - or at least I don't see them anywhere. Most likely to thanks people trying misinterpreted everything developer says again;
* Too much hot air, threats, speculation (FD will go bankrupt) about something is not clear yet;
* NO, no one will nerf AI back;
* YES, bugs and balances will be looked at;

I think it is time for mods to cool this thread down, because it goes in circles, people don't even discuss AI anymore, but OP weaponry, or where balance of the game should lie, should casual players have to be catered - all kind of offtopics. Please mods.

Come back when you've lost the rest of that 21.6 million and give us an update. Then come back every time you rise off zero again, only to lose it to a two-second killtime weapon. Can we assume you will remain as determined and upbeat then?

I agree , every NPC should be a bit better... but there are very different players in the game so I think the idea of having low tiers be fodder and high ones being actual content is a okay idea as long as elite AIs make us suffer (currently however elite AIs are a bit on the easy side)

And why not? An Eagle with 3 normal pulses will drop any Condas shield if it has enough time and the Conda does not put shields in pips.
But hey why try and make an argument when you can embarrass yourself in such an easy way ...

I'm going to assume that his shields might have lasted 7 seconds.

Mind you, I've never, ever seen anyone complain about their Conda's shields being taken down in 30 seconds. Have you?

You are right. But there have been a few "companies have been sued for less" and "ED will die because of this" posts.

Those are the threats Im talking about. Sorry if they dont match your definition.
