Engineers Did long hair go out of fashion...?

Just order the Delacy D-49 vent filter with your order :p
Then you get the warranty, if the seals on the filters are intact :p

That's not intended equipment for hair removal! It's heavy duty equipment for.. Oh fine - you got a licensed service engineer signing up for the work you can go on and look good with DeLacy.

Long Hair all the way!
How else would you accompany wily charm,
freedom and independance?

Long hair being problematic in 0G?
Apply some conditioning and keep it safe under your flight suit! :D

Alternatively, you could just glue it to the ceiling of your cockpit with bluetack :p

There is no space for that,
that place is where i keep my collection of hats.
Trophies of cocky pirates trying to fight me over my limpets :p

The fed crew cut is not for me,
as a free-booter i take what i like
and wear what i like, as is with hair! :D

Well if you rotate the station to get gravity I would still call it artificial.
I know that in Elite there are no Gravity Generators like in other Sci Fi settings.

But I am quite sure with about 1000 years of experience living in space and low gravity that people and the industry would have found a way for the ladies and Guys to keep their long manes.
What comes to mind for example would be braiding "heavy" beads into it to keep it flowing in the direction of the gravity forces.
Some heavy duty hair sprays would work as well :D

In the morning earth, midday in the cockpit and in the afternoon on the moonstation and always looking good, use our patented hairstyling sprays. :D

With our Anime princess showing off her locks, I am sure there is quite a big interest in Empirial space into having long hair for many ladies.

And Denton Patreus sports the classic pirate dreads, in fashion for outcasts and privateers since the Pirate of the Caribeean movies :D

And for some reason a new advertisement just came to mind.. "Low Gravity Taft" :D

Just thinking about that makes me wince [blah]

If you still have that Cobra you have nothing to worry about though. Just hit boost and the long locks are guaranteed to be always situated behind your seat due to acceleration xD That's what I'd do with the iCourier.

Apparently, the preponderance for short hair is caused by a lack of shampoo in the galaxy. Check out the stations - no shampoo for sale as cargo ! [sad]

The avatars on mission boards do not have shadows (or ambient occlusion or specular), and long hair needs shadows to look good. I suspect that's why long hair is not there.

For what it's worth, it was confirmed during beta that the player character renderer will use different assets and render at a higher quality.

Guy with long hair down to my elbows here. I have several years of experience with long hair under 1g conditions.

For work and sports I put my hair into an english braid. When downhill skiing my hair fits under the helmet and the braid lays under my coat.

When moving around in 1g environments the braid can fall forward and short pieces of hair can land in my face. These are just minor inconveniences under gravity.
In zero g this could be circumvented by wearing a Snoopy cap under the flight helmet and by braiding a piece of wire into the braid itself (like Pippi Longstockings).

The more difficult to deal with consequences of long hair under microgravity is cleaning and combing it.
A science fiction series I forgot the name of let their spacefarers apply a spray with small ferromagnetic pieces to their hair. This kept their hair in place at all times.
As others have already written, in the future a space travelling society will surely have developed techniques and devices to keep long hair in space clean and tidy.

Hair should be gone in a 1000 years!

Evolutionary speaking, hair is a long sense unneeded remnant of days long gone by.

I say so long. and no thanks. Way to much work here in 1 G.:p

I'd disagree with that. Hair plays a vital role in human mating rituals in that generally, potential mates are attracted to specimens that have well maintained hair. It's like the peacock's tail feathers: useless for survival, vital for making babies.

More than just fashion, there could be cultural differences after thousands of years' time. Just compare today with what people of the past thought attractive..

"Look at the massive belly on that man! Wow! he must be rich to afford so much food."
