So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

3) The logo on top of the two "observatory buildings"...

Here is the logo in question...

I am unsure if it has any significance whatsoever - or whether this is a breadcrumb trail deliberately dropped by FDEV and whomever is helping to write the ongoing storyline. All I know is that 1) This is a cool logo and 2) I wonder if there might be some information encoded within said logo - that is not my forte so I'll leave that as an exercise for others to ponder over and possibly decode if there is information in there to be gleaned.

And that's all I have for now. I will continue following the Dark Wheel trail. Thank you for reading :)

Cool emblem. I see 4 main (sequence?) stars, 3 semi stars (perhaps unscoopable brown dwarfs) and the 10 planetary objects. If it's anything to go by, maybe somewhere in the Col 70 sector, there's a handcrafted system with a procedural name that contains those stellar objects.

Frontier has always been overzealous when it comes to handcrafted systems - you can get the idea if you visit 2Mass clusters as they individually contain many stars and/or black holes. - So, if it stands, that could help us pinpoint a specific system or otherwise be vigilant if we happen to come across it.

AR - Astronomy Research?
.
I see stars over the horizon of a planet/moon/sun in the logo. That curving sweep across looks like the horizon with some stars above it to me.
.
I love it. Great find.

Hey Rifters and lorers and such, here's a nice little Discord server with independent researchers interested in lore, Raxxla and the Rift. A few of us there, come and say hi!

This seems an unlikely line to me. PP wasn't even a pipe dream when the book was written and his location/clues had to be setup at least partiallly when the book was written. Secondly Drew is not overly fond of PP so I have a hard time envisioning him incorporating it like that.

I don't think you're reading me right or i'm not communicating it correctly. I agree with you about it not being a PP thing. That's the point of my post.

There are, however, certain PP leaders who pre-exist power play and were part of the story prior to Frontier adding PP. These folks were being mentioned in Galnet at the same time that Kahina was skipping around Sol, being lured by the alliance and returning to imperial space.

Maybe a focus on what these characters were doing before the Story was derailed by Power Play would shine a light on the mystery.

Since we already now the mechanic is in the game where too many UAs effect a station, what if too many data caches do a similar thing.

It fits the what we do with it clue and the mention from Drew that We may not know it when we see it.

I can't see them affecting it but you have made me wonder.

We are still needing some kind of explanation for the Wayfarer's Graveyard

I guess we've interpreted those galnet posts differently. I don't view PP as having de-railed their stories. Their stories were setting the stage for PP with Salome being the lone exception, that was the one story line that PP disrupted, primarily through the annexation of Prism. They were basically putting the playersin the right place so that when PP started they were where they were supposed to be, e.g. the Emperial succession, new Fed president.

Ah. I see. I definitely see PP differently. I think PP was shoehorned into the game as a response to criticism that Elite: D didn't have an actual game. I don't think that the whole Hengist Duval is Sick thread had anything to do with PP.

There wasn't a mission leading me to that base - I just decided on a whim to go down there looking for missions - then I did a double-take - then I did a bit of poking around :)

AR might also stand for Astronomical Research - who knows.... ;)

To add to the mystery there are many entries in EDDiscovery for Col 70 Sector, the most recent visit I can see mentioned in EDSM May 16th. I checked a couple from EDD and they are now permit locked. It would appear Col 70 was accessible until some event after May 16th and before today. I'll wildly speculate that may have been around May 26th,,, call me psychic.

The plot thicken.

Have a feeling this should excite the UA/Barnacle/Cannon folk.

So we have two mysteries that may be happening about the same time that may or may not be related and clues coming up that could be about either, neither and both.

Looked at Barnards Loop from Col 70 viewpoint, hoping it more closely matched the barnacle logo; not really but Col 70 is fairly big and need to try that from more Col 70 vantage points.

Maybe that Dark Wheel base locks it off as much as observes it?

So the Pilots Federation is responsible for permit locks, so they know something?

Hope you invested in tinfoil futures.

I wonder if this thing is the Dark Wheel insignia. Might visit a few DW bases tonight to see if they've all got it. From the news article where Sen. Kahina disappeared leaving her dark wheel medallion behind, they do have one. Somewhere.

An easier task might be visiting other ground bases that aren't Dark Wheel and seeing if we can find one of these 'telescopes' to check if they share the same insignia. That would rule out this being a DW specific symbol.

Apologies if this has been mentioned/covered off before, I'm at work and don't have a big enough lunch break to sift through all the threads!

"Edge of the galactic arm. Take a line from Reorte to Riedquat to the edge of the arm, and ... keep going."

Everything I've read so far suggests people are assuming (and fairly enough) that the line goes out towards the edge, but what if the line goes the other way, towards the core and out the other way? That would fit with the "consider the 'core' of the problem" clue?

Hi Kastia!

I know that feeling... too much info sometimes and a few time :/

Regarding to your question and quoting LuckyLuke "Drew Wagar has confirmed the ‘general area’ of the rift is 'broadly correct' as per current maps".
