Such a sad day. I can see now there is no hope from players who aren't elite to stand a chance of hoping the AI gets toned down a bit, since every response is "I am awesome you should be too." I think even fans who don't think it is ok where it is at now are voting that way to sway the polls. No, I won't check for any replies because I know what they will be. "Get good, you suck." I really loved this game. It honestly pains me to say goodbye to it.

Would you like some help with combat?

dont tell people you have multipurpose asp; people will tell you how you need to specialise it though. :D

Not, they will tell you to outfit it properly, because flying a ship with 150 Mj shields without ECM and/or Point Defense and Chaff in 2.1 is pretty much suicide. You just need one enemy with a missile launcher and it can toast your shields while you're not looking. And they don't need modded weapons for that.

I got a reply from support.

A partial reply, and they told me to get good.

I... don't even.

Apparently, it's working as intended.

Hey Ovion,

could you post a screenshot of the response you got? I'd like to see it personally, y'know, get the "full picture" 'n that.

The problem with the response to "get good" is that MANY players don't WANT to get good. We're not interested in combat. We don't play the game to do combat. If that's all this game is going to be going forward, then there will be an exodus to other games and this game will die with only a handful of combat junkies playing.

I can't believe they would be that short sighted.

Although its nice of you to offer the person in trouble help, but how is that the point? Someone who wants to mine/trade/explore and not be an ACE combat pilot, should be allowed to enjoy the game the way they want to enjoy, this forceful feeding of YOU MUST LEARN TO BE A GREAT COMBAT PILOT is plainly wrong.

I personally bought the game for the space combat aspect alone, I don't enjoy lugging goods from one system to the next, or shooting at rocks and having limpets collect etc, nor do I personally enjoy surface scanning, I would be very annoyed if I was FORCED to trade/explore just to be able to play the game.

To each their own, forcing everyone to be become good at combat is a very fascistic approach which is what most hardcore combat CMDRs are doing on this forum/thread, all for an extremely selfish reason too I might add, so that Frontier does not give in to all the non combatants pleas, so the ACEs can keep belittling the non combatants, if these piloting gods so want to test themselves, they could just run around without shields in 'open' and take on the other ACEs but nope, they could ask Frontier to make HAZ RES and HIGH INTENSITY COMBAT ZONEs to have the current engi modded super buffed AI for anyone who wishes to test how good they are, but no, they want non combatants to suffer, so they will keep worshipping their super buffed AI god, simply cos they enjoy others miseries.

You put it more eloquently than I mate. Well said.

I think the worst affected are the guys who are stuck in 1.6 unless they want to pay to be able to compete with NPCs! lol!

So why are you complaining about combat if you're no good at it? Just avoid it.

Going through the bubble, I get interdicted maybe once every couple of hours. Sure, I just pop the culprit, but what's stopping you from high waking out?

Out in the void I don't see anyone, well, unless we plan to meet up or something. Maybe become an explorer?

This is exactly the issue, we frequently CAN'T avoid it. Interdicted and destroyed before you can turn around to face the system you're trying to high wake to. As it is I AM an explorer, yet I'm lingering out in the middle of nowhere now because I'm afraid if I try to get back to a station I'll be interdicted and destroyed with 5 months of exploration data aboard.

In fact, this happened to me before the update. Flying my exploration Adder, I was interdicted on my way to the station in the Maia system by an Imperial cutter... corvette... one of them, I can't recall which. The smaller of the two, whichever that is. I was originally going to run because he wiped out my shields in his first pass, but I realized I was in the more agile ship and was able to stay behind him in relative safety. I did eventually destroy him. If the same thing happens to me NOW, I'm dead. No question one way or another, I'm just dead. There will be no way for me to fight back, and no way for me to escape, so there's no point in even trying to do either. That means I don't play.

That's not healthy for the game.

amen!

With a 1:1 scale of the milky way galaxy you are making this a combat game? Then what's the need of spending that much effort in "manufacturing" systems such as sol, Vega, among others? just make 10 star systems and get rid of landings.

1) Literally hundreds of other players have reported unreasonable interdiction conditions with threats as large as Anacondas. Those inflict a mass locking effect, as I'm certain you're aware, this makes "high waking" it out unreasonable. Keep in mind that the people who are being negatively affected are probably using trading ships. They don't exactly scream speed. In short, your anecdotal example of you being lucky doesn't help anyone, and merely perpetuates the frustration people are undergoing whilst trying to enjoy a video game.

2) If someone is to die in less than 2 seconds, as we've seen with some of the bugs currently in the system, I think that, along with the potential for mass-locking to be something "stopping you from high waking out"

3) Are you seriously suggesting that people should do what they do not want to do, because they currently cannot do what they want to do?

It's not presidency. It's playing a role in a video game.

Come on man, really? Have you read what people (who disagree with you) have been saying?

You're asking questions which have been answered a thousand times, some in comments you've replied to!

The RNG gods are smiling on you, cos in my experience, going from the station to HIGH RES which is 142 ls away, I get dicted almost every other time, in my case, if the dictor is someone I can handle I pop them, otherwise boost boost boost low wake. I have experienced this quite a bit (I go back and forth between HIGH RES and station often to reload seeker missiles, and I can easily say 50% of the times on the way to HIGH RES I get dicted, and only 20% of the times I get dicted on the way back to the station so once per 1.5 runs I get dicted, I repeat WITHIN a very short distance (142 ls is nothing), I have 0 cargo, I have no outstanding bounties, and I am in a system controlled by my power and has High Security status, the dictors are NOT other PP enforcers, "the big haul" lol so much for 'smarter AI' what big haul ? I have 0 cargo :p

Then how would they force existing players into buying Horizon ? ;)

omg lol
You're not forced to be ACE combat pilot
- If you're not interested in combat job, learn how to escape from enemy.
- If you're a trader, prepare your ship: minimum 600 armor, point defence, chaffs and maby shock mines. When interdicted just drop from cruise, so you'll have fast FSD recharge, and boost asap.
- If you're involved in Power Play, fly only within your Power territory, if you don't want to be interdicted all the time and fight with superior enemy.
- Don't fly through Anarchy systems. Stay in high security systems, it takes 35 sec for cops to arrive.
- If you're an explorer, prepare your ship for arriving, plan routs from deep space to home and\or ask players for escort.

So, as you can see, you can keep playing your way without learning how to kill. All you need now, is use you brain. You know, the game name is "Elite: Dangerous" and before 2.1 the only Danger in game was to fall asleep in front of monitor.

Well, look at it this way... Either you're "dead" not playing the game, or at WORST you get popped in the game. It isn't all that bad though really. I'm assuming you're not in Powerplay? I'd say there's at least a 95% chance you'll be perfectly fine making it back somewhere to sell your data and/or swap ships to something a little more hearty to sell the rest of your data elsewhere.

I sold somewhere around 10 to 15 million credits worth of exploration data to an Engineer to get them 85% of the way up through teir 4 on the way to tier 5, because I'm trying to get the best FSD I can before the Crab Nebula Expedition of 3302 – my Vulture exploration ship doesn't jump all that far.

...

There's bound to be another "rebalancing" NPC pass before too long though, so maybe just wait for that, if you're really that worried about it.

Nice.

- Git gud
- Good advice, but a T9 running away from an Anaconda, let's see you do that one :D especially when the interdiction either immediately succeeds or immediately fails!
- Stop playing how you want to
- Stop playing how you want to (and subsequently starve anarchy systems of trade which they need for the economic system to take effect)
- Pretty good advice actually.

I would like a setting that allowed my rank to be fixed to "novice" and not go up when I kill something.

I am novice, I still get chain interdicted by master and above NPC's till my python is dead, unless they change the behaviour of the AI that isn't going to help. I suspect what's happening is that I am a master trader, because that's all I do, trade, but the NPC's are being rated to my trade rank not my combat rank.

I've been interdicted and destroyed in less than 5 seconds, not enough time to warp out, high OR low, and that's BEFORE the new update. Escape isn't an option most of the time, at least from what I'm reading here.
As a Trader, you may not HAVE the space for all the goodies you suggest, especially at lower level.
35 seconds is an eternity when they can destroy you 7 times over before the cops arrive.
How do I plan a route from the star to the starbase? It's IN SYSTEM that we get interdicted.
Asking players for escort is impossible when you're playing in solo mode.
