Horizons Pirate game mechanics redux

Cmdr Pirates in Open Play should not be able to use "Solo" group as a hide out strategy. This would make the Bounty hunting game play more meaningful as currently players just jump in and out of solo . Pirates should instead find a "Secret Pirate base" in open play the galaxy is big enough.

OP. Fixed that for you...

This post seems one way to smoke out the pirates... :)

I'm not a pirate, but I think if we're going to call out the Pirates for hiding in solo, we should be calling out all players that do the same.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating that all players should be forced to play open. Just because that's the way I play, doesn't mean all should. If you want to play Solo, go nuts.

I'm just sad that over the last few days I've not seen another single trader (like me) at the trade CG.

I agree

What kind of pirate worth his salt hides in solo? That's silly.

You didn't really suggest a mechanic, just what you don't want to be possible for some CMDRs. How would the game discern between the pirates/traders trying to hide and those just switching modes for some other reason? Would one have to self-identify as a pirate or trader through an in-game menu?

I identify as a container of palladium. Will some trader kindly come to Gilgamesh and pick me up--please. I've been bobbing about in this black soupy stuff for days and the outer walls have grown so cold they're starting to chafe! I do find great comfort amongst other containers of palladium and find slaves extra warm--so if you want to save me from this deadening ho-hum, I'd much oblige.
