Engineers Why no reduced charge-up time mod for FSD?

This would be a great alternative to increased range, especially for your type 6's and 7's now they are more vulnerable; it would give them a bit of an edge in an interdiction. Perhaps it could be balanced with much higher power consumption to disincentivise the more heavily armed/combat specific ships?
 
I would take something that gives an edge in the interdiction game over a reduced charge time. You know, make people actually fight interdictions instead of cheesing it from the start.

Interdiction Tether Resistance:
Improves the tethering resistance of the drive and makes the blue bar fill up faster when in the blue zone.

Drawback:
Might increase the charge up timer for the jump

Sorry, wasn't very clear. I mean't on having been interdicted by an aggressor or system authority and needing to escape.

I haven't flown a type 6 or 7 since 2.1 but i do seem to be winning more interdiction's if I do choose to fight them. An interdiction inhibiting fsd mod would also be interesting.

I think you are referring to boot time which is how long the module takes to come online after turning it off and on via the modules panel. I'm talking about jump spooling speed, which isn't an option.

reboot time improvements can be modded in by engineer, might be a good thing for traders in general, since if interdicted it will also make it reboot faster there?

Nope, go into the right modules panel, turn of your FSD, switch it on again. It takes a while to boot up, the engineered mods reduce that time. Nothing to do with interdictions/cooldowns/charge times.

I have a hard time believing thats a mod tbh have you tested it yourself? I was going to but it had one of the weird material requirements (mission rewards) so haven't got to it yet. I assumed this mod referred to charge time personally and it was just badly worded as 5 ranks of boot time relating to turning it off/on would be in the running for the worst mod available.

To be honest I assumed it was module boot time. There is a chance it IS charge up time I guess, anyone try it in beta? It doesn't exactly scream "Test me!" does it.

Yes it is defintely boot up time. Max level is handy for quite a few reasons (especially in PvP) Engineered weapons can knock a drive offline, the faster it reboots the better. Flying a power config that requires the FSD to go offline when weapons are deployed, no longer having to wait the full time for it to come back online.

Definitely not a priority upgrade for me - Still it's not entirely useless, seconds count when trying to flee with a hull that is crumbling.

Stock FSD boot time is 9 seconds before you can begin to charge..

Well I'm disappointed in that, but at least you just saved me a host of expensive materials as I genuinely would have taken a faster charging FSD over a longer jump distance lol, ty sir
 
Something to inhibit a masslock would be choice. Or slow the opponent down like some kind of one-time use gravity bomb that takes up your entire cargo space [big grin]
