Ah good old MS-DOS the fastest booting OS ive seen, on my old 900Mhz netbook I can get it into DOS in less than a second :). Windows takes about two minutes.

It goes to show though that not everything new is better ;)

Strange, I recall, in the late 80s, MS DOS taking up to 10 minutes to load from a 80Meg HD. The main reason being that everything had to be loaded at startup, including the good old Word Perfect, which I do miss.

Windows 3.X, 95 and 98 all took quite some time, but were a slight improvement on MS DOS.

W10 is the fastest loading I've seen so far.

I'm normally the one to hate progress, but on the loading issue my experiences seem to be rather different to most others.
