Can We Tone Down Interdictions A Bit?

It's a little annoying when, after I've accidentally jettisoned all of my cargo thanks to that button being next to the headlights button, I try to go back 124LY to get Soontill Relics - in a Hauler, because screw that in a Corvette - I get interdicted six times by random FDLs saying they want my bounty. Of course, all of my bounties are dormant, and nowhere near my current system, but that doesn't stop their reign of terror from destroying my Hauler, the two Soontill relics I'd managed to recover, and the nine tons of Praesmodymium I'd just spent an hour collecting! Seriously, until we can store a ship's cargo WITH THE SHIP, like logical human beings, tone the interdictions down. From ten minutes in a garbage transport ship, I can see why this crap would be annoying - If I was in a T9, I would probably be dead of a burst blood vessel by now.

IMHO if you've acquired Bounties that triggered BH NPCs :

- take care of your BH NPCs 1st
- then wander off to fetch stuff in small Ships

If you fail to dispose of your hunters, they don't leave you alone.
Which IMHO is the way it's intended to work - forcing you to watch your back until you dealt with it.

I remember having 7 (!) FdL NPCs on my back after undermining a Faction, which trailed me at every occasion.
Had to stop doing what I was doing and "have a little talk with them" ;)

I think it's all working just fine.

Unless, like I said, all of your bounties are dormant. That, and these things pop up every second system - you can't just "deal with them" once. Actually, with the mods they get, it's difficult even dealing with them once.

Go to the controls section in options, change key bind.

Not sure if it will help, but have you tried a suicide winder?

I don't know what you are doing different, but I just get interdicted once per hour. I am not saying that there is no problem, just that 'tone done interdictions' isn't the solution / we should try to find out why you get interdicted so often. As said above I rarely get interdicted and reducing interdictions would mean no interdictions at all for me.

It's a bit problematic to take care of 'em when the cops show up to within seconds to a fight with an FDL that might take several minutes.

Certain types of haulage seem to attract pirates while other types none at all. Was hauling landmines for Liz Ryder (engineer unlock), got interdicted at every single turn, but while hauling metals no-one was interested at all - could freely park in space to scan ships at my leisure while having hold full.

I think another problem is that people don't fight them. I always fly multipurpose ships (Cobra or Python) and if someone interdicts me I'll just kill him. It does make them stop following you.

There's that too. I was doing the landmine haul after FSD-tuning my Asp, so I didn't really bother mess with the interdictor(s) (elite FDL for example), just left them bite the dust as I sped away until next interdiction - reached my destination every time, albeit with a number of halts XD

Only if you're Wanted yourself in that jurisdiction. Otherwise, it'll shorten the fight dramatically ;)
(just make sure you've landed the killing blow on it, otherwise it doesn't count)

Another method to deal with them (provided you're not locally Wanted) :
- disengage into a Station (it'll gladly assist you as soon as you come under attack)
- disengage into a Signal Source if you're quite certain it contains System Defense forces or Authority
- disengage into the NAV Beacon, lots of Local BH NPCs and Authority there
- disengage into a HighRES - again tons of Local Authority there

But if you're Wanted in a crapload of jurisdictions... Good luck, after all it's a hard-earned privilege to be the "most Wanted man in town" :)

Dunno about that one. I'be been interdicted while trucking bio waste for a mission I took, while getting a message from the NPC referring to "tasty cargo"

And Soontil Relics in my hold the pirates deemed unworthy their time... Uh, yea, logic. Gotta been some serious [insert your favorite or least favorite or whatever word here] you were hauling XD

Why do you even need to turn on your headlights? ^^

A Hauler is actually quite good at winning interdictions, so you should be able to deal with most of the attackes that way. Should all go wrong double chaff always did me good on the Hauler, and its not that difficult to cyrcle around most enemys to keep yourself out of there weaponfire.

Thought they mostly got rid of the NPC mods.

Not much trouble from them when I took them to Elvira either, though I might have popped one or two somewhere in there. Can't really remember for sure.

Control settings 101: unbind jettison button.

Is there now a use for this key? The first thing I did when I set up my control bindings was to ensure I couldn't accidentally drop all my cargo, and my credo was that if the pirates wanted my cargo they could prise it out of my cold dead hands.

Well, lately a lot of pirates have indeed been prising cargo out of my cold dead hands. I just wonder if a quick and easy "jettison all cargo" button might be a fast way to get them off of my back.

Those are mission spawned pirates, they are idiots and want everything and anything. Random pirates that just come upon you are a lot more picky. But they sure love the crafting mats.. I'm looking at you Elite Asp for a single ton of power transfer bus.
