I just upgraded my crossfire R9 290 system with a single Nvidia EVGA 1080 card. Whereas before I had to set the game to crippled graphically through things like sampling below 1.0. Now with the 1080 and 1.5 sampling the game is AMAZINGINGLY detailed...bluriness is gone...text is clear (I admittedly do use a custom HUD colour of green) and cockpit and exterior graphics are crisp and high res like I pictured they would be.
I know you can make a successful argument that you shouldn't have to upgrade to that kind of a card to see a difference. My opinion is that my R9 290 which met THEIR specs should be delivering clear graphics even with eye candy turned down...it didn't. So i suppose like some past games that looked increasingly worse depending on gfx options, settings and resolution Elite looks better when configured to look better. I also agree that the ED experience is VERY fps specific...ie the higher your FPS (locked at 90) the better.
Simply put i can't now put the game down whereas last week i had to not play it cause it looked like someone vomited pea soup on my monitor. Now it's clear, crisp and gorgeous and I CANT stop playing!
