Lol, I wondered if anyone would pick up on that, ;) I wonder if those words score a hit with the DEA & ,err our UK equivalents ;)

Heh. Meth Crystals. (just tryin to make the list)
So, found these.. In A.L. Duval controlled space near several inhabited systems.
The system itself in not inhabited. No Icy rings.

systems in boom with high demand for painite have the best prices. e.g. search for tourism/high tech/industry system with controlling minor faction in boom close by.

Painite sells for 66k/t where I sell it & mine it! :), although all the other metals/minerals are at their lowest prices.

That is a very good price. However, I'm seeing a galactic average of 40k now, and at Wababa the price is 49k.
This is fine with me though if it means that there's going to be more painite.
Last 2 trips I've only pulled in 13T out of 448.
Basically made me quit mining for credits and started fulfilling mining missions instead because there are more of them for the various low value commodities now.
Couldn't bounty hunt anymore because of the beefed up NPC's, credit return on trading is on par with the interest rate on my savings account, haven't done any rare trading in a while, wonder if that's jacked now too.
Apparently in the 2.1 galaxy any level of NPC in an Eagle or above can destroy my python very quickly, so i don't stand and fight anymore at all.
Helps that the cops show up, sometimes. It's been VERY disruptive. The most recent update is supposed to tone that down, but can't risk it at this point.

Anyway, can't find a list of what minerals, etc can be found in which types of rings and asteroid belts, So I'm visiting each and creating one. materials too.
Unless someone knows where there is such a list?

Not that I know of, I assume you've tried Google etc?
.
Re your Python & NPCs, well that depends a lot on the spec of your ship & how good you are.
If you've got some wimpy shield & hardly any weapons then yea you're going to be in trouble, that said you can always hyperspace your way out, although that is a PITA of course!
Also bear in mind this latest update (err, 2.1.0.2 I think) has toned down the weapons on some NPCs (see it's change log).
But as a little perspective, I did once nearly get in trouble with my Python & an Adder! (pre the above update) I couldn't believe how close he came to dropping my shields! But basically the problem was with him (& other small ships) is that I couldn't turn quickly enough, IIRC, what I did in the end was boost away, put full pips to engines (2 to weaps) turned back from a little distance off & then got him on the way back to him.
Oh, my Pythons spec at the time, A5 shields (not 6 because I want the cargo space), 2xA0 shld boosters, 1 PD turret, A6 thrusters (ain't cheap!), I think at the time I had 2 medium mining lasers, 2 large beams (class 3?), & 1 medium multi cannon (I'd forgotten they'd added a large 1 to the game!).
.
In my last mining runs I ditched 1 of the mining lasers, added a large MC, ditched 2 out of 7 collectors & fitted an SCB. I like to fight rather than run! ;). Which btw didn't make much of a difference to how quickly I gathered metals & minerals overall because I found I was more limited by how quickly I could find the right stuff, rather than how quickly I could gather it. Although I did also decide to gather all the lower value stuff (Praes, Samar, & Os) I found rather than just a little.

Yeah.. No luck. I'll just go check em and see.

I had the same shields and boosters, 2 3C/g cannons, 1 3D/t Beam, 1 2D/t beam (i think it was D) and the mining laser.
I like to fight too, and before 2.1 didn't run from anything less than an anaconda and that federal whatsit with all the weaponry.
Never lost shields unless i was against a wing. Was practicing getting into and staying in the anacondas blind spot as well.. then this "engineers" update hit.
My first fight:
-system malfunction- -system malfunction- -taking heat damage- -Hull integrity critical- -eject eject eject-
That's when I found out that an engineer built a weapon that can cause my ship to malfunction. Nice right?
I just wanted to find him and crash my (very expensive for me) python repeatedly into his face.

Hopefully this is better now after the patch. Hopefully painite will show up a little more often too.

I think I figured out what the material content means: it's related to the % totals for the asteroid. Before, the sum of all the mineral % would be around 60%. Now, in low mineral content asteroids I'm seeing a total of around 30%.

I am on a long distance exploration trip outside the bubble at the moment. Put a set of prospector and collector limpets and a refinery on board with 64 ton of cargo space with the intent of mining at certain spots. Does anyone here have any info on what types of planets/rings etc are most likely to have low temp diamonds?. I tried a pristine ice ring this morning but the best I got was lithium hydroxide the rest wasn't worth keeping. Reason I ask is that as I only took the 64 now 59 prospectors I am sort of limited from testing out lots of rocks as I want them to last a bit.

You mean the amount of iron, sulphur, and so on?
No, I mean the % of silver+bertrandite+osmium you might find listed in an asteroid. Before the % would add up to around 60%, now for the asteroids showing Low Material Content the % adds up to around 30%
Ex:
before: 35% silver, 20% bertrandite, 6% osmium = 61%
now: Low, 20% silver, 4% bertrandite, 3% osmium = 27%
