Engineers One straight question

So, if i want rank5 thruster upgrade, i have to go do something i really dislike to do, exploration 5000ly away from starting location.
God why is it made like this?

Why do you have to go 5000ly out? I am not seeing that requirement anywhere..??

professor palin meet requirements:
MEETING REQUIREMENTS

Attain a maximum distance from your career start location of at least 5,000 light years.

I see, I thought it was 100lyr and the invite comes from Qwent. Is that from in game? or another third party sheet?

I think going 5000 ly will actually take less time than getting 25 modular terminals and 25 UA fragments personally, you'll also get enough exploration data if you choose to scan the high value targets to get one of the exploration engineers to Tier 5 straight away (which is dumb)

Well, as stated above other ways to unlock rank 5, and honestly 5000k really not that bad. more engineers to unlock so there could be another thruster master out there..

it is very bad for me, but ye i hope there are engineers for everything for each profession, otherwise its dumbly made

Take a couple days and go see a Nebula....5k is really not very far. I realize not everyone is into exploration, but get out of the bubble man ;)

This seems to be one of the worst elements of the Engineers. I understand Frontiers desire to give everyone incentives to try out different aspects of the game, but they seem to have forgotten that a lot of those aspects aren't all that fun. "Play your own way" is no longer possible I'm afraid.

By the way, if you think exploration is dull, wait till you have to spend hours driving around in an SRV shooting rocks, hoping for the right material to drop... RNG hell if you ask me :S

That isn't even remotely true. As others have stated, you can unlock level 5 without doing the exploration component. Alternatively, just wait for an Engineer you know to reveal the location of another thruster specialist.

The problem here isn't the game or its mechanics, it is the mad desire of grinders to want Class 5 Upgrades less than a week after the game went live.
