Meta-Alloy not really a "rare good"

I figured since I was out there I'd top up with meta-alloys, assuming they were a new "rare good" but it seems they don't follow the rare good paradigm. Having forked out over 100KCr per t I am looking a a loss.

So... basically you're now going around with 27t on meta-alloy?

Since, yknow, there's no storage system...

MAIA - surface base Darnielle's Progress

For now...get them while they are hot!

There is apparently a bug when it comes to barnacles and harvesting meta alloys from them which is why this temporary solution was put in place. I assume they will remove this market as soon as they've fixed the problem.

well that is over 400KCr loss - chalk that one up to me being greedy

So this Farseer Engineer only wants the 1 t no other use for it is there?

Guess you could always hang around the engineer's base in open and offer to sell meta alloys for a few tons of gold.
It is very very time consuming, btw i was tempted and buy 37T of them, give 1t to engeenier, and start to carry rest of it from station to station, finally sold with loss of 1,5Mil just to get rid of it.

Well, they do fix UA affected statoins. You probably get a better price as well.

Yeah I forgot about the player's "goal" of fixing UA stations - only remembered it after I posted on here about clearing my cargo space for a loss. I must be suffering from brain fade.

I didn't hang about offering the stuff (I don't need the credits) as I had seen several posts from people offering that and getting no takers so I just went for a local system which, to cut my losses, Thrudds showed a decent price (it was wrong).

You wont get your buy price back and it's by design. Otherwise everyone would make a profit bringing them to any station in the galaxy. As mentioned previously, the sale at the settlement is a temporary measure until the barnacles that spawn them are fixed. But from what I heard the destroyed state is by design, and so is the heavily defended barnacle. The bug is that intact ones don't drop the meta-alloys right now.

Yeah I don't mind at all, as I said it was me just making an assumption that they were working like the "rare goods" so my inherent trader's greed made me fill up with a load of 100+KCr goods thinking that the trip back to civilization would earn a meaty profit.

I really have gone at my two "engineer" experiences very half-(donkey)ed and not checked things out before wasting time and resources.

So yeah, I do understand why they have done it the way they have, I have no complaints, I just made the thread to save anyone else making the same mistake really.

But it is a commodity more in demand by certain economies that others, losses are not certain
