Right .. so if I take your reply here as being genuine there's 2 things at play here:

- Some people don't know to high wake when they need to escape from combat
- Some people will need to leave the game during combat due to emergency

Simple to fix:

- Don't treat everyone as a deliberate cheater first of all.
- Menu log in 15s as normal
- Upon return 2 things:
---- Force them into solo for X minutes
---- Educate them with a message "You're in solo for X minutes due to logging out during combat."

Done.

Well, then read my first post carefully. I did exactly that what you wrote in your point in "fix".
This is an online game. People need to know the basics of mechanic, and in some rare cases they will just die. Thats all. Thats the game.

Excellent poll, now abide by the results and accept you're in the minority. Your opinion is valid(in your eyes) so no problems there, but the majority think otherwise(currently 69% say 15 secs and 0 secs) :)

I knew the results, but i still decided to make the poll. The poll and discussion here shows tle problem exist and need some solution. The answers also shows why people want in-game-exit. Not for urge accidents, but people want to leave dangerous situation without any consequences.

If you ask someone he want win or loss he always will want to be the winner, and also in that questions people will choose the easier option, because people will always want to avoid consequences and always win.

I am also a bit surprised for the 30% of people who do not want iQuit or iWin button and they just want make game better and more clear. I expected at leas 5-10%, but 30% - i am really glad.

Logging out with the 15 second timer is a just as basic and legit mechanic as high waking.

Are you playing a space simulator or relog-menu-exit simulator? Log in and out you can on Your windows. You do not need ED for that :)
Everyone knows FD allows that, but this discussion is touching a different problem. Game should promote in-game playing for avoiding destruction more than game-exiting options.

I'm playing a game, as it is with games sometimes I stop playing. As weird as it sounds, it can happen.

Neither, we're playing a game. And one of the features of games is that you can stop playing it whenever you want.
The game doesn't promote Menu logging in anyway.

Yepp, then you can exit in ZERO time. Of course i assume you just need to stop playing most often in PvP or some dangerous PvE situation :)

Not "whenever you want", you have 15 delay to keep you in game in a case of danger. So your statement is false now.
And why it is promoted? Becuse a delay is made an exit during danger situation harder, but exit is a bit more efficient than avoiding this situation by playing a game.
Reloging a game is not a playing a game. Reloging is entering into the game and exiting, then logging a game. You are playing a game after logging and end playing after logging out.

If a delay is an mechanism with a role of preventing fast-exiting in combat or danger situation then should prevent it. For now it not preventing, because this is still more efficient than in-game way of preventing destruction (high wake).
This mechanism could fit this role only if delay time will take longer than in-game high-wake option. For example 60 seconds, to be sure.

I voted "keep it as it is", but I also think that a player should be able to click the 'yes' button instantly so they don't have to sit there for 15 seconds waiting to press the 'Yes' button.

As people have said 'life happens' and as everybody knows, 'Life' has a really bad habit of 'Happening' at exactly the wrong moment.

Not often, playing since release and it happend twice. Doesn't really matter how often tough, do you wanna tell me there should be the possabilty that the game wants to tell me to take a npcs feeling more important then anything in rl? Its a silly Idea, its a just a game and stop playing whenever should not be hassle.

Don't care about pvp, not doing that, don't see a reason why I should get silly stuff in my pve "cause pvp". the 15 second timer is already silly enough. If you want some seperate rule for pvp scenarios, sure why not, not against it.

Voted for "Reduce exit-to-menu time to 0, everyone should exit just at demand."

Firstly, this is a game, and I'll turn it off whenever I want.

There are at least a dozen IRL things that can get me out of my seat at a moments notice, and there's no pause button, so the games gotta close.

I've learned from experience that their are rapscallions in all aspects of life, and designing anything to the lowest common denominator isn't something we should strive for in my opinion.

Is there a potential for someone else to reduce your derived pleasure from the game by not participating in the 'accepted code of ethics', sure, but such is life.

I quite like how Rockstar deals with ahem, people who try to cheat the system.

Put them all in the one instance with a dunces hat on their head for a set amount of time.

Not sure how that would look on the top of a Conda though.

I've had to delete a few personal attacks in posts. Please don't do that, feel free to discuss the topic but not each other.

Could we please trigger the "Are you sure" -> "Yes" button before the timer reaches 0?

I mean, sometimes I need to leave my desk like immediately (when my wife calls me for an urgent matter for instance...). I don't care if my ship flies into a straight line for 15 seconds, then vanishes, but I don't want to wait 15 seconds in front of the screen to finally be able to press the button.

So far, when it happens, the only workaround for me is to combat-log (AKA "wife-log").

So you would rather promote 'ungracefully' exiting the game if something urgent comes up during a Dangerous situation?
Because that's exactly what would happen.

So it should not be problem if this ship would fly 60 straight seconds instead of 15, without confirmation, right?
You just want quickly close the game, no matter of the ship?

Of course these urgent things are incoming almost always in dangerous situation and additional few seconds are so big deal :) We talked about that few times.
Please stop personal attacks, and do not accuse me of promoting 'ungracefully' exiting of the game :)

if i have urge situation, an accident, i just leave computer, leave home and do what i should. I dont care game, my ship or rebuy screen. 15 seconds or 60 seconds have no matter.
If you can wait 15 seconds, then you can wait 60 seconds.

And how about my above question to geoffrey.hdt? It should resolve your a loooong-exit-time worries, right? hit exit, 60s of flying straight, and just after hit you are exiting the game, but your ship is still flying 60s?

Stop putting words in my mouth.
I've never said that those urgent matters solely come up when I'm in dangerous situations.
Also I did not mean to attack you, I wanted to ask you if a longer timer wouldn't promote 'ungracefully' exiting more than highwaking.
Sry for my bad wording in the last post.

i never did that, but You tried. Try to discuss the problem, not me. I am really not want to argue. I do not want also to 'explooode' people in game.
My purpose of this poll is make gameplay more fair and more honourable.

No, making this time longer will not promote exiting a game 'ungracefuly', because if someone will have really urgent problem then he just exit after 60s and leave a computer. There should not be 'are you sure; button after 60s, just on the beginning, and quick exit the game, not wait 15 or 60 seconds. Just your ships should be 60s of flying straight in-game, and exposed to attack.

This will promoting a 'high wake' method, and will add you a possibility to quit instantly, but will prevent exiting in avoid-desctruction cases, no matter PvP or PvE.

If someone want do 'ungraceful' exit, then he do it. And it will be clear when someone is avoiding consequences or just need quick close the game.

I really doubt you're going to get an increase to 60 seconds, you're welcome to keep trying though. I'd say 30 seconds is probably the maximum it will be increased to.

I think the best chance you have is asking to keep it the same or a slight increase to 20 and then adding a slight drawback. Like my idea, where it will send a warning to the other player or once you exit you drop 5% of your cargo or something.
