AI spotted using engineer weapon

Earlier today i got interdicted by npc python that used thermal shock on me. I didn't get evidence of that. But now i got interdicted by vulture who also used thermal weapon against me. In screen shot below you can see that npc hit me and i get thermal attack gaining heat message on info panel.

I have posted about this to weapon bug report thread, but want other players to know this.

I lost my T-6 last night to that thing where they hit you with a rail gun that fires like a multi cannon. They know about that one I think, but it's nasty when it happens.

There is a bug thread for anyone spotting this happening.... help the guys in support. Tag it and report it asap.....

Yeah I have been subjected to an "impulse attack" a couple of times since they were supposed to have been removed. Not pleased that they say one thing but do another. I really can't wait to see what 2.1.1 brings.

Why is everyone acting like this is a bad thing? I guess when we all say "we want the NPCs to be on even footing with us", what we mean is "only players should be able to use advantageous features, please put the NPCs into a barrel and make them fly in circles".

FD themselves are "acting" like it's a bad thing, that's why they're going to fix it.
No need for guessing at all.

Please don't start that nonsense again - go play "ironman" somewhere. NPCs with engineered weapons are just a pain, I am happy to take on an Elite Viper / Cobra / DBX /Asp (even post 2.1) in my master AspE but when they start spewing weapons that I have no way of countering / coping with - I just have to h-wake out. Don't forget the 1.6 only players too, they have no hope of upgrades.

Because at this stage, most players don't have access to these features (not to say anything about the bugged weapons), and so it's created an asymmetrical playing field, where people are being out turned by ships that shouldn't be able to do so thanks to thruster upgrades they can't yet get.

If they remove them while people are getting set up and then add them again based on NPC combat rank, things will flow better.

Hasn't FD already stated that they removed some of the weapons already with a server side patch earlier this week and will release a new patch later this week to remove the rest? They also stated that they will be bringing them back later as they see fit, so enjoy your safety now, but prepare yourself for modded NPC weapons in the future.

Very good point - totally agree. There should always be a way out and some of these weapons combined with certain ships and ranks leave no escape. It could be argued, I suppose, (and I admit to being in this camp a little bit) that occasionally the randomness of the game (like real life) should bring about your demise just so that, being possible, encounters are likely to get the adrenaline flowing. That's what makes for a good game in my view. But overall the toughness should err on the player's side so that we can all be heroes in our imaginary world.

I just want the frequency lowered, that's all. I'm totally, completely fine with running across an Elite FDL equipped to the hilt in engineered modules...IF, it's infrequent and occurs in a believable scenario beyond 'I grabbed a ton of scrap from a crash site and just entered SC'.

It ruins the whole concept of shadowy and elusive engineers assisting those few they know and trust, when everyone and their mother has upgrades everywhere.

Yes they said all combat-oriented engineer modifications (so includes all weaponry) would be removed from the AI during the server-side changes that day. Myself and many others have posted that there are still engineered weapons being utilized by NPCs. Impulse and thermal attacks mainly - and these are not the "bugged" super-weapons, just modded attacks.

Safety is not an issue, I have yet to see an insurance screen despite being in the game every day since 2.1 launched and have had many MANY encounters with high-rated NPC pirates using enhanced weaponry. I am not combat-oriented and frankly couldn't fight my way out of a paper bag but I do know how to get-by. OK I have had repair bills but I have survived so please take your "git gud" attitude and deposit it in that place Terry Pratchett described up by Lancre in the mountains.

Rept CMDR;

Its getting pretty obvious now whats really behind this false theme of git gud and safety bit ye? Besides being obvious that its those that spittle out the git guds and safety that its they themselevs that have capabilty issues with the game or theyd not be projecting it everywhere and in each conversation.

Now, lets hope that FD comprehends this now too and brings the game into a decent playability level aside from the mission fixes.
