Yup, it's do as before and run away a lot more if you can in time or combat to get MODs to errrrr combat more.
First there is no 'late game' there is only current game. Also I just run basic bi weaves no need for anything else unless you pvp and then that is a whole other story.
That is NOT the game per say but the nature of PvP in every game. METAS will always be what you will have to work around. Even rock/paper/scissors has a meta. There is also an alternative called Arena/CQC where you don't have to grind.
uh you got it wrong, even if i dont want it for PvP, there should be version to get those upgrades as combat too, but whatever you say

Suck it up and get grinding if you want sparkly shields.

just Play a shooter where you have to do nothing to get Equipment! I love the additional Things to do and never had more fun preparing for the new meta to rock at pvp!

You mean, in season 3 when you will have to grind to a LOT more upgrades then to get on par with other players?
"blaze your own trail" and "multiplayer" is a bit contraindicative if you think about it.
If you go for PvP you must simply have at least the equipment the other players have or a BIG skill advantage to compensate for less tech. If you cant "grind" for that: well, to have time and determination enough for the grinding is a skill, too...
Also "blaze your own trail doesent mean that you can do all roles "top notch". you can do whatever you want in this game, that doesent neccessarily mean that you can do it all best. Especially if you dont want to do one thing that is needed to do the other.

I disagree. The post is not about All Games, but This Game. And you have a case of cognitive dissonance to wave-hand a discussion just because other games (which are not this game) have different features sets which produce a different environment for players of different levels/skills.
Grinding for PvP "meta" is a trail you have chosen to blaze OP; there's ample evidence on this forum that other players are blazing other trails, and taking the engineers in their stride. You assert that there is no choice where there clearly is choice. Your argument is purely emotive and your reasoning is logically flawed.
