Engineers Unhappy about having to keep cargo for crafting.

I would like a way to store this cargo that i have to keep for crafting instead of holding onto it till i can craft what I want to craft for multiple reasons.

1. I cant swap to ships i own that don't have cargo holds or have very small cargo holds. Especially those I want to upgrade.
2. I am a nearly permanent interdiction target for pirates.
3. I cant go to Resource extraction sites to farm for materials I also need for crafting.
4. I cant do cargo missions that give me cargo I need for crafting because my cargo hold is full of cargo that I need for crafting.

I would like to be able to have a bank or be able to transfer my cargo to owned ships docked at stations untill the time arises that I require said materals, or have the cargo transferred to the engineer I am going to visit for ships I own that have no cargo hold.

Im sure cmdrs would be happy with either of the first two options. I very much doubt "do nothing" will get many votes.

Almost every module I have is modded now and I never needed to keep the cargo. I just snapped it up when I wanted to mod. It is one of those days when people need some of this meme.

Also FD said they were going to add in some storage relatively soon.

It's totally needed I vote for both. Not being able to keep cargo on a stored ship is like not being able to get in a different car cos you got some stuff in the boot of your other car (which is well weird)

I feel like allowing us to store cargo in a separate ship would be easier and faster to implement, simply because those stored ships already have their own modules saved to them, and it would be a good stop-gap until a real bank or 'stash' system could be set in place. Then again, I know absolutely nothing about coding and developing a game. Either way, we desperately need a stash system now that they've implemented mission-only commodity rewards.

So, I vote yes.

Here is my problem with the current state of affair. I have praseodymium in my cargo. For some reason, this crafting material doesn't go in the special cargo section that Frontier added to all ships. So, I need it to upgrade my FSD. Now, I'm in my Cutter. I would like to increase the FSD range of my FdL. What do I do? Ditch the praseodymium, switch to the FdL, add a cargo rack, then start looking for the praseodymium I just ditched. Yes, I know I can do it, but I'd rather not.

Well tomorrow I could help you out so you can do just that. Just PM a time and ill see if can help. I live on the east coast here in the US. So EST.

Having to resort to having other cmdrs is not ideal. I dont want to bother people to hold all my stuff while I swap ships and fly out to an engineer and back. What are people who play solo or have no friends supposed to do?

I would have voted for "remove the need for commodities for crafting entirely". Combine that with increasing your material storage to 100 of each type and the job is done :)

Voted for the bank....but I don't think 'bank' is the right term. I think it should be a case of purchasing or leasing hangar space, in which your ships would be stored (so the price would be dependent on how many ships and what size you're looking to store) and integral to that would come some degree of module and material storage (ie a storeroom or small warehouse as part of the hangar - which incidentally could be decorated with all sorts of ship spare parts for graphical effect). I'm cautious when it comes to cargo storage due to the mis-use that *could* result re trading the markets, but with the cargo items that have been introduced with Engineers I'm not sure there's much choice. Storage is now even more essential than it was before and should have been implemented either prior to Engineers or at the very least as part of it.
