A question needing an answer...

I asked this elsewhere, but didn't get a response. So, I'm asking it again in its own thread.

Suppose I get interdicted by an enemy I can't handle (which is pretty much ANY ship, now). What happens if I simply log off? Press Alt+F4, or quit? What if I do it while being interdicted? What if I do it AFTER the interdiction?

Would I log back in to a dead ship?

Call it what you want, and I know how to win an interdiction. I win more than I lose. However, losing even ONE means my game is over, as there is no way for an explorer/trader to fight the new AI.

That said, you have no answer to the actual question?

(Honestly, I would never have even considered this kind of thing before now, but I'm left with no other option, as much as I dislike it.)

This is called combat logging and is a pretty contentious subject around here. Many, including FD consider it an exploit and cheating. As a direct answer to your question, when you log back in, you will be alone in normal space in the condition you were the instant you dropped. The main point of contention is when this is done in combat against human players, robbing them of their kill or cargo. Given the bugs with the AI weapons currently in the game, this doesn't seem to be quite so black and white of an issue against the AI.

Call Iridium Wing. They'll help you if you're an explorer. If you're a trader yet you can't avoid or fight or escape, and you can't afford to lose even once, then it's really your own choices that are killing you. Don't fly so close to the raggedy edge ;)

Well, I don't play in open, so there's no issues with upsetting the enemy. I would only do this to escape NPCs. Likewise, since I don't play in open, I'm not going to get help from anyone.

What I'm hearing is that it is a viable choice, if left with no other choice?

Given what you have described here, from a technological point of view, yes, it will accomplish exactly what you are hoping to accomplish.

What is preventing you to get a cheap sidewinder, try it and then come here and write if this worked or not instead of asking and being upset because you don't have an answer?
It takes less time to do the test yourself than answering all these posts.

You could also submit to the interdiction. Your FSD will charge way faster allowing you to jump away in less than 10 seconds. Your ship should be able to last at least that long, if it cant then you really need to look at your set up. The fact that you "cant kill anything" makes me question what the heck youre flying and how bad the set up is. Also makes me think it cant be a lot of fun.

Fighting interdictions is risky. If you lose and it ends up being an elite FDL, you might not be able to escape. If you submit you will almost always be able to get away as well having the opportunity to see if its possibly and enemy you can take out and collect some really nice loot.

I understand, I've been tempted but haven't pulled the plug, so I can't help with your question.
They have at least stopped the AI from cheating so much.
I'm going with either tanked combat ships or small and fast. The enhanced drives are awesome. Trying point defence and shock mines too.

I'm not unreasonable. I'm willing to try taking on a foe one on one, but in a T6 armed with only one beam laser, that's a dicey proposition... even BEFORE the changes. As it is, I never seem to see less than two ships. Four is more usual. I've had 16 at one point (didn't survive that one either).

I'll try a sidey once I get back to civilization, assuming I survive that long, and post again in one or another of the various threads.

Breaking your connection, and killing the game client is an exploit. Going to the exit menu, waiting 15secs and then exiting is ok with FD.

Well, if you're trying to make it back before the next NPC patch update, main thing I'd say is to not hang around too long in supercruise in any one system and try and make it back somewhere to reoutfit and/or switch out ships.

I've gone straight through the bubble a few times while stopping at a few stations since 2.1 and only got interdicted a couple of times for it. They may be weighing encounters differently for different players with different setups though. I'm not really sure.

You need to set up your ship properly and learn how to run away. Combat logging will not go unnoticed by fd and is considered to be cheating even against the AI.

Properly set up (A distributor, A thrusters, A shields, military armor) and flown the t6 will survive anything for long enough to get away. Just remember 4pips to shields, the rest to engines and boost boost boost! High wake (quicker than low waking as you can't get mass locked) out of system and jump back in, your adversary should no longer be there.

As I said, I do know how to run away. I've done it several times now. The problem (in part) is that I HAVE to run away. There is no reasonable way I can even begin to fight even a single foe.

Now, I'll grant my setup is far from ideal for combat, but it shouldn't NEED to be. I have a good shield on the ship, and decent defenses (point defense, chaff), but they're rendered utterly irrelevant by the excessive damage NPC weapons are doing, either by virtue of their excessive stats, or by virtue of the AI's excessive accuracy. Either way, they are wiping out ships in a matter of a few seconds.

I had and have little interest in combats I can't compete in. If they want to sanction my account because I refuse to play a game I can't possibly win, that's up to them. I don't consider it cheating if it's a counter to the AI cheating (with over the top stats, accuracy, magic weapons, maneuverability, etc.). Either way, I only consider it an option while they fix this issue. At that point it won't be necessary anymore.

Then why does my Cobra Mk4 survive just fine? Its the slowest slug in the game with the turnrate of a whale.
Are you panicking when this happens?

Besides, you are not guaranteed a win. Thats not a human right.
