need some advice/help

I have a mission to search USSs for a commodity (can't remember which one). Is there any sort of clue as to what USSs I should enter or should I enter them all? Or does the game randomly spawn what I need (even if it's a wreck?) so I don't have to go to ones that have threat levels (I'm trying to avoid combat).

Now, if a USS contains something relevant to a mission, it should be labeled as a "mission target" when scanned. And as 777 says, if you scan the nav beacon or honk the system the mission should update with a narrowed down search area.

You should be given a target system to search, scan the nav beacon and see if it reveals a missions specific signal source.

rep and cheers both, one last quezzie(or more) do I only get ONE chance for the commodities or will the game spawn multiple chances? Is there a chance it'll spawn in a different type of USS after?

Basically I'm saying if the USS is one that's obviously combat (firing detected or something isn't it?) or a high threat level can I ignore that or is THAT the only mission USS and I'll fail if I ignore it.

IIRC the game will spawn a specific USS type at a specific location.

In theory the type of USS spawned should be affected by the rank of the mission. Elite missions would be harder. I have not tested whether this actually works or not. If not, it should :)

I see, ok then back into the game to search for it, cheers all. :)

it's a Mostly harmless mission so should be ok for my puny (teeny tiny) combat skills eh?! :)

And if for any reason you fail to pick up whatever it was in the first USS, it will spawn another. I managed to completely bollix up collecting some mission specific canisters once, but a bit more cruising in the target area brought up another mission target USS.

Right this was a planetary mission, I just assumed that when it mentioned USSs it was space based and had changed, i could have sworn planetary "areas" were POI's?? So I see the planet I need and see an "investigate crash site" come up "cool" I thought, so set course, as I got closer it moved...so set course and it moved again so I set course again. Then I thought...what if these are all crash sites and I have to explore each one? So I landed and found a crash site that didn't have what I wanted, went back into ship and now this crash site is the ONLY damn crash site, no others appear on my HUD. Went back to the site and there were new things to pick up (magically it seems), and still nothing I needed for the mission. What the hell do I do. Initially this was awesome but it's quickly turned into a pile of crud. I don't want things on a plate, but I NEED some damn logical reason for things to be happening!

I suggest to jump out of the system and re-enter, this should restart the scavenger hunt mechanic. Fly to the planetary body, continue to the search side and follow every updated location until it changes the name.

cheers for the reply (can't rep again!), bit of a faff this. Surely there's a better way for this to be done, not sure I can really be bothered and may just cancel the mission and never take others like it again.
