So, this was a rather odd find, dunno what to make of it.

So I figured I'd do a bit of the old jump'n'honk, y'know, pick up so exploration data to turn into Felicity Farseer for some nice (hopefully) FSD upgrades in ye olde Courier. Not being one to *not* stick my nose in where it doesn't belong, I've been eyeballing unidentified signal sources as I go. I've been through several Degraded Signal sources (and maybe an ambush or two) and seen plenty of destroyed ships along the way... some when I get there, some shortly after. Y'know, pretty normal stuff.

Imagine my surprise when I see an Encoded Signal source over in COL 285 Sector RS-Y B15-5. Sounds way too juicy to pass up, y'know? Went ahead and dropped in and then everything got a bit weird. No hostiles, but still... what the hell is this?

Wreckage, obviously, but of *what*? I haven't the foggiest of what I'm looking at. Never seen a ship whose hull looks anything like this.

Whatever it was, was big enough to fly a Courier through. Anyway, there was a beacon on it, and a serial on the side of it.

Not a ship,part of the debris resembles part the ring on the large rotating stations, and that's where my educated guessing ends, I'd love to come across more of this while exploring.


On further inspection, the piece I was looking at is bent out of shape, not part of a ring as I thought.

That was my first thought as well, followed by "That doesn't look like any station or outpost I've ever seen." Other thought was "Maybe it's a generation ship?" but I'm pretty sure if I found one of them there'd be a big, flashing "It's a generation ship, you idiot!" sign on it. At least, I'd hope so.

Thats not true.
The pattern of the debrie is not random , and the assets used are hand-made

There is low chance of it being nothing more than just a cool encounter , but look at the UAs , those are not random.

And anyway FD would never just add an asset into the game without logic and on top of that encounters spawn based on the BGS , so there is something going on

I ran across one out near Maia as well, I think it's a destroyed outpost or something. I was thinking it might be something special and Pleiades-related, but the other day I ran into one near Deciat as well.

It is possible , but I found one of those it had dead ships floating all around it.
Making me wonder if its linked to witch space , what if witch space sometimes spits out ships that got lost inside it and this is the resault.

This big debrie is intresting as it is human , that much is sure , but what is it? an outpost? possible but why would there be so many of them? is it something like a larger ship?

I found mine right in the center of alliance space.

I've seen this before too. I thought it was a really big cargo canister that got lost in transit. Couldn't make heads or tails out of it beyond that though.

No, it's not a ring, it's square, but with smoothed corners. The ones I saw had the wreckage of some small ships around as well, an Eagle, and I think a Sidewinder.

Original elite talked of "rock hermits" hollowed out asteroids and the like as well as the fabled generation ships - could this be from one of those ?
