In the face of the stronger AI How is about lifting the nerve of the Python a little bit?

Python with level 5 mods is a force to be reckoned with. In beta it was amazing; dirty drives give it back most of the flight model it lost; level 5 boosters give it very good shields; jump range closing on 29 ly unladen (class 6 power and distro).

It was brilliant. Loved it. Made my buy a python again (I sold mine because it made me endlessly sad) and I'm having a ball. Well, was. AI is is inexorably being nerfed into 2.0 levels of threat.

The Python is fine. If you want to start turning it into even more of a monster, start modding it and it will surpass the pre-nerf one.

This. It's not pre-nerf python with level 5 dirty drives; but it's close. Thing is to die for if you push all the knobs to 11.

So at the current rate of grind for mods we can expect to put together our prefect python at say the 6th year of development of ED? (this makes me sad for the python again)

Its really not that slow to get mods if you just work towards them, it make take a month but its not gonna take 3 years :p

Uh now it sounds bad again....

Don't allow your emotions to be swayed so much by forum posters. :) As a rule of thumb, everything on forums, good and bad, is greatly exaggerated. :D

Pythons are good. Modded Pythons are really good. Decent drive mods are not too difficult to get. Top-end ones will be harder, but you can get to a grade 3 with that much hassle.

I am hunting for one material type via missions so I have ~3-4 spins at a class 2 thruster upgrade, which should help a bit; then it'll be hunting for likely class 3 FSD range materials.

Thing is, I am actually enjoying running missions again and just bombing around in python. But tonight was a bit disheartening that the AI has fallen so far so fast. I am glad the 'freak' bugged weapons are being addressed, but they are unwinding a lot of variables in one go due to community impatience.

I literally had one interdiction that had me sit up and take notice. The rest were eagles and small ships at low ranks that represented zero threat. I mean I wasn't just a-b-a trading goods; I'm running missions and these always up the rate of interdictions.

This, if you want pretty close you just need 1 chem processor, 2 chromium, 2 mech components, 1 spec legacy firmware and ~ 500k of exploration data and you get rank 3's straight off farseer (which is what I did), they are ever so slightly slower than the pre-nerf but its not far, I think 4 is about the same and 5 is probably ~ 5% better

Aww, look at you guys, all positivity and lollipops. Its enough to make a fella lose his lunch, uh I mean applaud your supportive and friendly atmosphere. :p

:)
I will go for it. Thanks. Just dont know if I can bring up the time and motivation for grinding.

I am far more fascinated at the moment about the fixed BG simulation. First time I really can move the influence of an insignificant fraction of a system. That never worked before due to their BG sim bugs that were in for years.

My battle Python has nerves of steel already. He's been killing NPCs for days now sometimes 4 at a time... nothing can touch him. In fact, if he had any more nerve he'd be bordering on cheeky.

If you play the background sim, you'll naturally aquire components for your mods. Check out some Engineers, figure out which mods you want, and the mods you'll need to get to build up the rep, and note the materials you need. When you see those materials when you're playing the BGS, snag 'em up. You'll have fun and get your mods in not much time at all.

It's so good seeing python become really viable again (and I don't mean just energiser bunny). I enjoyed banging around in it all evening.

I bought python for cocpit view (same as in cobra :) ) and waiting for my NPC co-pilot. But since 2.1 i didnt died yet (once i was close i was manage to run form other elite python). Anyway i'm with python for a while and gained enough dogfight skills with it to still feel confident (reverse flight and FA off i used since i bought cobra III)

I know, dirty drives, FSD boost and the shield gen boost on top of my prismatics make it an absolute beast :-D

Now that the NPC are significant more difficult to deal with how is about undo the nerve of the python especially the turn rate hole outside the blue range just a bit?

It's now not just a flying brick but a flying brick in a sea of sharks. So a tiny bit increase of it's performance wouldnt hurt I think.

Or can anyone tell me does those engineer trusters upgrade improve the turnrate of the python?

I would be happy to have a better handling python but dont forget if you get it so do the npcs. That kind doesnt help your situation but i'll still take the upgrade happily. Also the drive upgrades from engineers do help a little kornelius briedis has some vids demostrating this.
