Ships FAS hardpoints (Bug or design feature(

Well I've been flying the FAS for months now and love it....Mostly. But what gives with the two large hardpoint placement? If you run gimbled weapons there is only a tiny angle in which both of them will fire. Lag pursuit the top mount fires and lower mount doesn't. Lead pursuit, bottom one fires, top one doesn't!

Also considering the tank like hull, IMHO the fuel scoop over heat happens way too soon even with a 4B scoop. My Asp can scoop all day long, as can my Python, but the FAS would appear to be made from heavy duty chocolate :D

Best solutions I've had are to either:

1) Build your firegroups by location - top firegroup / bottom firegroup - rather than by hardpoint size

or

2)
Set your large weapons to use ones that have a longish reload time, and jiggle your ship so one is always shooting while the other reloads. Cannons work well for this, frags are AMAZING on the FAS in this sort of config, and if you set 'em up in their own firegroup (one on each trigger) you can even machinegun plasma accelerators.

Or just try some smart gun placement...
Like, bottom and 2 sides as lasers, and top one a plasma accel,, the way it works is that to keep an enemy in your crosshairs you need to keep your nose up, and while doing so your lining up the plasma accel as well.
That's basically how I run my FAS and love it.

I'd run this with the top gun as a beam turret, bottom as multicannon and twin beams/pulses, all gimballed. But I've never actually flown one.

Turrets in 2.1 RES are trouble as so many cops get close to the kill and may get you WANTED by them all too.
I found I can only power 1 big Gimbled Beam on Top which is best to track targets with your upward view to get shields off.
Then in joists, which is most of the time by then, I use 2 Gimbled MC on sides plus my Top Beam. Once the MODs are efficient enough I will also use my Bottom Frag Cannon but it just doesn't do enough damage for me in place of the others anyways. Anymore Lasers will just overheat.

Same thing with a lot of ships: Cobra, Viper, Clipper etc... there's no single ship with a perfect weapon placement...

I have no trouble because I use triple PA on botton points :) However, consider rolling your ship 90 degrees when target escapes your field of view, this will allow both top and bottom hardpoints to swivel sideways :)

2.1 Brought in no wanted for glancing cops with your turret, so long as turret is not locked onto cop.
