AI Debacle

at app 2100 Today
Whilst Docking, in my Anaconda my Dock Computer missed the Letter Box and put the ship into the Station, Lost 1 Shield ring, managed to reverse out of the cow catcher etc and finally Docked. My video shows nothing but "Auto Dock in progress" and clearly shows it trying to bury itself in the Platform (and me with it).

Returning with Cargo to my Home Station, on final leg SC before docking - Indicted 4/5 times (2 different Pilots) each time tried to take the useless advice of keeping 4 pips on System, managed to keep getting away 1 ring and less and then I had had enough, already lost this ship twice, now three and still listened to all the Twaddle from the pew pew boys about it all being playable, I assure you this game is now Rubbish.
To prove it I have all the videos in glorious HD. Even shows me logging out and of course the stupid 10sec warning. So I do not know or care if I still have an Anaconda or not.
I do not know where you Pew Pew "nowt wrong with AI" are, and I do not want to, because there is not a single one of you has had the gumption to think the really bad AI is possibly no-where near you.
But I tell you and Frontier they sure as hell are here. Parutis + GQ Virginis. I am beginning to wonder if some of you dont actually work for Frontier.
If any of you know about Trading you will know that 15m+ or 21m+ The replacement Cost of an Anaconda is alot of grinding. (Yes i liked the A8 power)

No one in this AI 'Debacle' and god knows what else seems to have the sense to use the Backup which has been drilled into all PC users to do and put us back to V2.0 until if and when this is all sorted out.

They will now no doubt call this harrasment, and it will not last long on the Forum.

There's always been a lot of interdictions, but agree the AI is a lot tougher if you want to fight them. If you submit and jump to another system it will break the chain of interdictions unless you're on a mission and a specific NPC is after you. I've gone back to my old running away mode now and I've not lost more than 1 ring of shields since. Before 2.1 I used to obliterate anything that interdicted me, but it was too easy. I was destroying fighters in a d rated trade spec python with A3 shields! Was just too easy...

Wait till you're interdicted as you enter orbital flight and are then thrown through the planet to the other side.. at least you beat the interdiction that way :)

i Have the videos as mp4 , can I just attach or show them on here I dont have a Website, any help in posting them somewhere would be appreciated.
I also dont use u tube

"I was interdicted and shot at, so I ran. Then he interdicted me again and shot at me, so I ran. Then he interdicted me again and shot at me, so I logged off. This game is broken!"

Seems like the AI working fine. Whats the problem exactly?

You have to upload them somewhere, cant upload it to the forum directly. Youtube would be easier but there are alternatives.

Seems to be a pattern with all these posts. No mention of shield loadout, boosters used, no mention of high waking to lose the NPC. It is getting beyond a joke now, almost as bad as all the insurance topics shortly after the game released

It doesn't seem all that useless is it? Unless of course you thought having 4 pips on systems would make shields invincible...

Seriously these threads are getting more ridiculous by the hour...

Your the guy who said that use 4 pips to Syss and you will not lose shields eh???

For ur information apart from the now B8 power I have always had 5 shield Boosters OK ---Five In V2.0 they worked fine
and on the Video u can see 4 Pips on System, except when i switched to Eng to get away from him or her, which was impossible.
Thanks muchly for your advice.

4 pips in SYS anytime you are under fire, that includes when you are running. What base shield are you using?

You already took my useless advice to put 4 pips into shields, you managed to get away, yet for some strange reason you low waked every time.. According to your post you low waked 5 times. We can only help you so much.. The rest is down to you.

I'll repeat myself -

Fit a decent base shield
Fit a good amount of boosters - You got that part right
Keep 4 pips in shields (Especially when running with depleted shields) Ideal config is 4 in SYS, 2 in ENG.
HIGH WAKE - Select any system, charge the FSD and line up.

Do you always call people who are apparantly simply better than you a clown? 777Driver knowns what he is talking about, but feel free to rant and yell at people, if you find that easier then learning from your failures...

Pretty much sums up the level we are dealing with here.. Don't worry mate, guy's like him don't phase me. He can take the advice or leave it, it's not me staring at the insurance screen or pulling the ethernet cable on NPC's

Ok I Googled it. Don't know what my taste in clothes has to do with a space game though.

OP it would help if you explained what ships interdicted and your Anaconda loadout. I think there is enough expertise on the forum to hone your skills and loadout.
As it is - just sounds like a rant, god knows I've done a few of them myself - mostly on the CQC forum!

Er, Dan, perhaps they don't have the gumption- love that word, btw! :D- to think anything. Perhaps they've been out in the black trying to see what works against the new AI? I know I have...*

It's been dialled back a little already. The monster instakill weapons are either gone or going shortly and the aggression- particularly chain interdictions- has been reduced.

Having said that, the new, harder AI will stay. It's been on the cards for a long time now and as much as I sympathise with those struggling with it FD have invested far too much into beefing up the opposition to just revert the game to easy mode. The fastest and best way to deal with this situation is to change your reaction to it. In game, obviously. Be as annoyed as you like irl and on the forum! ;)

A few wee tips- I'm sure you've read them before, but it won't hurt repeating them:
  • Four pips to systems is good advice. You have strong shields, they'll last longer with plenty of power being fed into them. They won't hold out forever, but I'm sure you've already noticed that.
  • If you don't want to fight, jump to another system. It resets the instance you're in, hopefully reducing the chance of an NPC waiting to interdict you when you return. No guarantees, but it's better than re-entering supercruise and getting interdicted again with weakened or collapsed shields.
  • If you don't think you're able to win the interdiction mini game, minimise the AI's chances of starting it. Circle around in supercruise; if he can't get behind you he can't interdict you. Bear in mind that this is a temporary solution- the AI will follow you around as long as you're in it's system. You'll have to either jump to another system or try to spiral into your destination.
  • Before it gets to that stage, decide on a transit route. Dropping out of the ecliptic plane will vastly reduce the likelihood of a random interdiction. Keep an eye on your comm panel- if pirate Peta has already announced her intentions this won't work! The alternative is to stick to the shipping lane- the most direct route from the star to your destination. When you're in it, it'll register in the left hand panel. Tough out the encounter until the system authority turn up. In 'safe' systems (corporate etc) their response time is amazing- seconds rather than minutes. Again, no guarantees, but it's saved my rebuy a few times this week.
  • Ditch the docking computer. You're getting battered by the new AI, stick something useful in there- hull reinforcement or shield pills. The thing's clearly on the Fritz anyway, you'll make a better job of landing the old girl manually.

Hope that helps, old boy. Chin up, illegitimi non carborundum! :D

* I went looking for trouble in my Type 7. It took the cheating, superbuffed artificial bar stewards three days to kill me. I really enjoyed it, but your mileage may vary: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=259602

Any of those guys realize that high-waking to neighbouring system is actually faster than logging off? :D
Also safer. Plus one can feel like a ...

..no, actually I'm not going there.

OP, like it or not, combat is an essential part of this game. You want to trade in peace? Well, you can try. But don't blame the game of doing what it's made for.

Don't forget. Boosting away in a straight line is no good neither unless you're in the millennium falcon.. Or a Cobra.
Boost, evasive manouevre, fsd, boost, evasive manouevre, boost, evasive manouevre, scream like a girl, high wake out. Breathe, breathe, breathe...
