Got to have storage. Ridiculous.

So, I had a bunch of materials for engineers that I was working to get to take a tour of the engineers and get a bunch of upgrades. Had a ton of rare inventory items, not materials, actual cargo space mats. Like 100 of em. And since I can't store them anywhere, I HAVE to take them with me.

Ok, no biggie, I don't die often, I can fight. So, heading in to fuel up and head to Farseer. Interdicted by a Federal Gunship/assault ship, whatever, start fighting, he's strong, but so am I. I get him down to about 30% hull, when the cops show up, I lose my shield and he gets me down to 85% hull, no worries, the cops are here, I'll bounce around and let him fight until my shields charge.

NOPE. At 85%!! My canopy shatters, and out of no where, with 4 cops attacking him, he Rams right into me. 85% to dead in seconds. 100 Rare engineer ingredients lost. Like a weeks worth of work.

Need to make all engineer ingredients materials immediately. I can deal with loss, but the grind is soooooooo long with engineers, to have it all lost on a fluke breach like that really leaves me with only 1 option - turn off the game.

so mad.

what? no, I take only what I need.

? So you just leave mats on the battlefield unless it's exactly what you need? Even when it's Exquisite focus crystals?

yes, I'm not using them. you have found them when not needing, I'm sure they will be spawning again in two months when I need them.

I'm not even looking now at the drops, only randomly. I will pay more attention when I have an upgrade in mind, specially for those occupying cargo space.

worst case scenario is I will have to fly around one or two days more to find them that day I want the go for an upgrade. not a big deal, I can live with that.

Why in the World do you need to hoard 100 units of cargo? They never want more then one for any mod.

I just get the things when I need them, works fine so far. Can't see a reason to hoard loads of stuff and I don't think FD wants people hoard loads of stuff which is why there is no cargo stoarge.

This whole thing is not thought out well. It is human nature to hoard stuff. But extermination of going to a smaller ship because of saved stuff is completely counterproductive!
Come again FD this does not work!

Cheers Cmdr's

All these new commodities are too much.
Only the mats and possibly the commodities we had before 2.1 would have been enough as upgrade requirements.
Add to that the multiple quality levels of the same type of mats.. this is massive overkill.
I understand some things must be more rare than others, but that can be done with 5 items, or maybe 10.
No need for 50+ of them, or 100.. not sure how many there are now.
Sometimes, less = more.

This whole update is completely and utterly broken. Rare materials that have such low droprates that you'll never find them. No storage for commodities. No storage for modified modules. Forced activities to gather materials. Infuriating RNG proces for applying upgrades.

Complain about this on the forums and you'll instantly spawn the white knight brigade that'll tell you to just play the game normally and not pay any attention to materials and commodities. 'I just bought a new car, but it doesn't sterr very well. What should I do? Just don't drive it, you won't be annoyed by it's defects that way.' Pro advice.

white knight brigadeer here. please, keep grinding and trying the utterly broken RNG the way you want until you get bored of the game.

sorry to disappoint you.

I actually stopped playing untill they fix it. Getting my kicks on the forums now :).

Also, Hearts of Iron IV is coming out tomorrow.

You do realize that these other mats/commodities could possibly be used in later versions of this game and putting them in now would be easier than trying to do it later when a patch requires them?

Got to have storage. Ridiculous.

I think most agree on this, especially as far a engineers related rare commodities are concerned.
I feel this was a real fundamental design mistake with acute negative repercussions for game play.
You can even get commodities for doing combat missions and as most people will be in pure combat vehicles they won't be able to accept the reward, because their Vultures and FDL do not have the cargo space.
This is very inconvenient and it hampers gameplay.

I hope the storage space is limited, not universally accessible from all stations but only where you store it, and it costs a significant amount of creds each week for every station you have stuff stored at.

Pick them up or not, hoard them or not, the key question here is storage and why we don't have it. Cargo, materials, modules should all be able to be stored. Its the year 3302 and we cant rent storage space? totally unrealistic.

let's make it realistic, one life! no more respawns, that is not realistic.
