Engineers Shield/engine focused Capacitor

Does having a shield focused capacitor push the envelope of resistance at 2 pips?

Does having an engine focused capacitor raise maneuverability at 2 pips?

I don't think so. I think ENG-focus allows you to boost more with less pips, and SYS-focus... I suppose it allow your shield to recharge longer at 0 pips? Honestly, neither are terribly attractive.

Outside of racing eagles I don't see the point for either. What would be nice would be if system focused would increase shield regen rate broken and unbroken, and engine focused would make boosts last slightly longer.

Ya what if shield cap level had the effect on damage negation rather than how many pips are in it? Same for engines, maneuverability/speed dictated by energy level? Taking damage could cost energy, 4 pips keeps energy high. Then engine and shield focused caps could actually mean something and make gameplay more interesting in general.

Well right now with 4 pips to shields and resistance shields and resistance shield boosters adding added damage reduction on top of that would pretty bad.

If shield resistance wasn't in game I would be all for it right now I'm rocking rank 5 resistance and only 3 rank 3 resistance boosters and I can scarf up elite Anacondas for breakfast.

I look at it from a different point of view. If I get the weapons focused capacitor then my weapons capacitor recharges faster. That means I can keep more pips in shields and less in weapons.
4 pips to shields = survival
2 pips to shields = risking an early death
I know its not the answer you are looking for, but I am just pointing out that the weapons capacitor upgrade can have some defensive applications to it.

No I meant replace the 4 pip resistance mechanic with a full energy mechanic

Yeah it's the only useful mod. How can we make the shield and engine focused caps useful?
