This ain't gonna work

I have not done any planet landings. I plan to but not now. I always screen my missions to make SURE there are no planet landings. Now that said, today I accepted a mission to retrieve items and bring them back to the station. After retrieving the items I was alerted the mission has changed and to take them to a base on a planet. Rebuy cost higher than reward, so I chose to abandon mission which cost me rep. I should have an option here. We agreed on the mission as it was, they changed the parameters and I get punished for it. They did promise more pay but that should be an offer which I can accept or decline.

Launch the game without horizon, problem solved?

If you don't plan to do landings on planets, why did you then get horizon?

But why didn't you want to take it to the surface base, in most cases it's no different to landing at an outpost?

yeag this is just weird........

personally i try to find any reason to go on planets.

why do you not want to go on planets? are you planetophobe?

the only times when i don't really want to go on a planet is when its like a 3.0g. Because then flying is no fun. I have to wonder too how dogfighting plays like on a high G planet....must be "fun"

Wow. Just, wow.

While I don't understand why OP bought Horizons, plays Horizons but doesn't want to land on planets, I do think that everyone should be able to accept/ decline an offer to alter an existing contract...

Basically this. I think the real bone of contention is taking a mission in a large ship, then being diverted to an outpost. I heard mention that it was by design, too. Which, if true, is absurd, I must say. Considering we had the exact same problem with the old mission system, and that was fixed because it was silly.

Worse than that (for me at least) is "here, deliver the goods to this station...500k Ls away from the star instead" -> [Abandon]

I have no idea how hard are those planetary missions, but normal landing on the planet surface and riding the SRV around is pretty easy and I never had any problem with it.
My only problem is, that I absolulutely have no idea how to find any POI on platet surface, but it is a different question.

As a non Horizons player i have to ask this. Can't you just deliver to the original mission destination anymore. ?

Isn't that how it used to be ? You could just ignore any updates and stick to the original objective ?

Yes, I agree. I heartily dislike the "change in the middle" mission thing. We should be able to accept it for the increased reward, or reject it for the original reward, just like we can for those "keep an eye out for so-and-so there's a bonus if you kill them" messages.

Didn't see the option. Went to the station/missions and nothing. Went to Nav/trans and the mission was modified to go to the planet/base.

I think you have to go to great lengths to fail a planet landing. Yes, I slammed a Cobra into the ground once when I was having an exceptionally brain-dead day, but for the most part it's not too difficult.

Once orbital cruise is established I slow down to 50% throttle usually and try to glide in somewhere less than a 90 degree angle :). Flying straight down is probably not a good idea. Practice in a cheap ship. :)

Well, i know there are redirected missions now, can't avoid delivering to the new destination in those then.

The way it has been, an NPC would sometimes ask you to follow him and offer a different mission conclusion. But you could just ignore them and deliver to the original target.

I suspect those are gone now after the changes to the mission system.
