I hadn't expected this!..

Did you have 4 pips on System? I get attacked all the time by Cobras above that level , up to Deadly or Elites , I've never been destroyed in my FDL by one of them alone, Anaconda has amazing firepower but it's difficult to avoid hits, I don't know what weapons you use but turretted weapons are your best friend in your case, did you record it in video? I'm curious about how they destroyed you

You really, honestly need to read the original post again (Yes, I wrote out Original Post Again)

Look for the words 'Vapourised' and '15 Seconds'

Npc competent Cobra interdicts a Deadly player, in a fully kitted Anaconda, in a high security system. Gets vaporised in about 12-15 seconds.

Last dying words... "I hadn't expected this"

Just really sad, what hope is there to balance NPCs if they can't balance dialogue.

If they said nothing in the heat of the moment, it would be ten times more believable. Next thing I expect to to here as they spiral at 0% health is 'Can I add you on steam'.

Half the time , the NPCs seem smarter than the players, and im not talking about the AI .... =P

I want to send some answers back

NPC in Eagle: "I want what you are carrying"
Me (in A grade combat rigged python) : "I'm carrying death.... yours"

At this point, I'd love to see the NPC run with "Oops sorry thought you were someone else"

Instead... he fires.... and 2.5 seconds later he explodes.

Bill

As an Elite rated combat CMDR I resent being referred to as a 'greenhorn' by NPC underlings.

One thing I enjoyed pre-2.1 was NPC Fer de Lances in HazRes. They'd sidle on up to you bold as you like, notice your rank, then declare "I don't want no trouble" or "I thought you were someone else". Sorry mate ... too late. Bye bye.

It is the same as "I was waiting long for a juicy cargo like this" when my ship cargo space is either totally empty or contains 2t of Praseodymium for Engineer. :)

Or "how do you people even make a living" when they've just witnessed me destroy an Anaconda for a huge bounty. I mumble under my breath "like that" and proceed to blow them up.

Run an empty cargo hold in a RES and you are basically invisible. I was swimming in a sea of Wanted annies and clippers and they ignored me like I wasn't even there.

Remember in pre-2.1 where you had to avoid the scan/rams? Even in my super-shielded FDL, it still hurt taking a sideswipe from a Clipper.

I sometimes send people some NPC messages to mess with them. Always funny, try it. Make sure to use it as out of context as possible. E.G, you see a CMDR docked at a station, you type 'I've come a long way to find you. Follow my wake so we can talk'. They always reply in hilarious ways once you are a player and not a bugged NPC following them into a station.

Yeah....I'd love to see a pass at the dialogue; instead of: "That's the ship I'm looking for, the one with the big haul." it could be "Well, hello, lets see what you're hauling today!", instead of "I hadn't expected this." it could be "RATS! Just my luck!" or "I guess I bit off more than I could chew!", etc.

Though to be fair to the NPCs and their writers, I have witnessed (and continue to witness) a steady stream of "competent" commanders complain that "they hadn't expected this" from high ranked AI, despite months of warnings and their A kitted ships and their Deadly/Elite combat ratings...
-
On the other hand, despite the apparently impossible to kill AI, the last two BH CGs have garnered record participants and finished early....so....not sure how to take that...

Please tell me you have taken the 'sign up from anywhere in 500 light years effect into account'?

I was under the impression that you only counted as a contributor if you actually contributed, not just if you signed up. Regardless, they are still finishing very early, and even though conditions are right for it, RES in system and all that, were the AI truly impossible and people losing all their bounties to constantly being killed or only being able to kill a few AI before needing repairs, or any of the other outlandish claims constantly spewed here, they wouldn't be.

I'm totally doing this later

Not at all, it's my minor bug bear now. 11,000 contributors on a failed minor CG on release day of 2.1/1.6. Strictly isn't true.

That's nice for those taking part, because they can get 50/75% by delivering 10 tonnes. Easy money.

Not my idea of a good CG.

No you don't state what power management you were using, by pips we mean 4 yellow dots on systems, you change that on the fly through power management in combat, my impression is that you had no pips on system and of course you got blown up, when you don't put at least 3-4 pips on SYS when hit , your shield melts like ice in the sun, did you have a Military level armour ? 15 seconds is weird, not even my FDL gets destroyed that fast when hit by several Cobras, it still takes minutes and I would have the time to jump to the closest system, you should definitely record a video and post it, the most similar situation I saw in a video was a player Anaconda fighting a npc Vulture, the Anaconda gets blown up in 20 seconds or so, the video clearly showed player had half pip on SYS, meaning his shields were melting really quick, his armour got tthen destroyed in a few seconds, this is why I asked you about how you were handling power management cause it is as important as having good modules on your ship.

I'd love to see a basic method to interact with them.. you know ala WC style taunts or the like, hit c 1,2,3,4,5 what ever.. so you could be like

"Drop your cargo unmarked and I'll let you live"
"drop your cargo and get out of here"
"Your Stuffed now!"
"I Surrender, I'll give you my stuff"
etc.

heck even things like when you jump in on those ones asking for stuff to be able to go

"I have what your after"

to them etc.

atm the NPC's are like random sentence generators

I got interdicted a few times without even a cargo rack, I think certain npcs just want to kill you.

"The rumour was right... the one with the big haul!"

This was downright hilarious on one occasion where I was on a long range mission run, last segment, with all that was left in my hold being 20 tons of biowaste. NPCs must love poop.
